Iāve never experienced such disregard to food hygiene. NOT recommended.
The place is quaint and has character charm. We were greeted by the manager who directed us to grab a seat and weād be served in a minute. The lady serving seemed sweet, but inexperienced (she wasnāt trained on making the drinks). I enjoyed the experience up until I saw the lady making the pancakes: she wasnāt wearing an apron, just an hoodie. I suppose I should be grateful she at least tied her hair up. The first pancake she accidentally scooped onto the floor. Even though there was two pancake hot plates, they made only 1 pancake at a time, so whilst waiting for my partnerās pancake to be made and arrive my pancake went cold. Whilst she was making my partners pancake, she was on her mobile phone which she kept in her pocket - not hygienic at all. She didnāt wash her hands in between either. She was using utensils to flip the pancake, but to place the blobs of Nutella, she used her fingers to scoop it off the spoon - again not washing her hand before⦠and then she licking her fingers after. She hadnāt even finished cooking and plating the food before she was sticking her fingers in her mouth. I will not be returning to this place nor do I recommend it anyone else. This place needs an environmental health officer to inspect it ASAP before someone gets food poisoning and the staff need to be trained with proper food hygiene courses.
It shocked me to see this all happen in the front of the shop, in view of all the customers. There was only my partner and I to be served at this time so it wasnāt like they were busy or rushed off their feet. It was like it was common practice and the lady seemed shocked that we walked out. I overheard her say that she āwashed her hands afterā⦠after you have already slobbered onto our food? Thanks for the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe stumbled across this place looking for somewhere for coffee and lunch in Skipton, and weren't disappointed! The crepes were all very good, and portion sizes were fairly generous.
All of the savoury crepes are gluten and dairy free (made with buckwheat flour), and most sweet options can be made with this batter if required. Although it may not be suitable for those with very severe intolerances as it appeared they cook all of the crepes on the same griddle, so I'd suggest contacting them in advance to check if this applies to you.
I have some other food intolerances in addition to gluten, and they made an effort to accommodate them, including checking that the salad dressing was OK for me.
My husband and I both got savoury crepes, he had the salsa verde crepe and I had the ham, cheese, mushroom & egg one. Our daughter had a Nutella crepe, which she struggled to finish as it was very generously filled with Nutella, as well as having 3 large blobs of whipped cream on the side! She also had a boba tea, which she said was really nice, but between that and the crepe she got a bit overwhelmed by the sweetness and dad had to help her finish them! But a hungry adult, or 2 people sharing, would have easily managed it.
Coffee was decent, nothing really special but perfectly adequate for people like us who've been spoilt by all the choice of great coffee in a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a strawberry and nutella crepe and it was delicious but not delicous enough to wait 50 mins and it took 20 minutes for my iced chocolate to come and it had a thick blob of 'ice cream' that tasted like butter the lady that was making the crepes was chatting away while the lady who was ment to just do the drinks and serve was doing every thing and the thing that was really annoying was that they were serving other people first who had come in after we had come in and when we finally got it it was soggy and going back when we ordered my nana didnt want the savoury crepes and she was starving so all she ended up getting was a cappuccino ! Also a couple Waited the same time as us. So dont come here when you are in a rush! I cant belived we paid 10 pounds for a pancake...
