Found this place whilst visiting Whitby. Managed to get my wife and I booked in on a Wednesday evening and we are so glad we did. Cosy little restaurant with only enough seating for about 20 people, a party of four is the biggest that can sit at one table. Very attentive staff who were always on hand but not intrusive. The food was excellent, in fact it is just about the best we have ever eaten. Complimentary bread, dips as soon as you get seated and a sorbet after the starter were great touches. Wine was lovely and the bill was more than reasonable for the quality of the food, the brilliant staff and the lovely atmosphere. Take some cash with you if you want to leave a tip though. Having heard how many people called to book a table whilst we were there I would suggest booking well in advance. We will come back to Whitby just to eat here again ( Whitby is...
Read moreWe had dinner at this wonderful small and unpretentious restaurant on 16/9/20. The covid-19 precautions and service were very good. The desserts we chose were baked egg custard cream with berry compote & gingerbread ice cream, and the treacle tart with clotted cream and raspberries. Imagine the best of all those natural flavours with no undue sweetness and you will know how full of...

Two things: I strongly recommend booking ahead, it’s so small that on a busy evening you are unlikely to get a walk in table, plus it’s so good word gets around 👍 We were there on a Saturday. Second: don’t be deceived by some of these photos, the portions are not small! We started with fresh bread, I had the three courses pictured plus a complimentary sorbet before my main. I was absolutely stuffed by the end and had to take a walk by the harbour. Finally, I don’t know much about wine, but according to my dinner partner if you are a connoisseur the selection here is excellent. Highly, highly...
