Visited twice and bought items to take out. In short, funky as it all looks, itās decent quality baked goods at an extortionate price. (Though the cinnamon bun was VERY good).
The first time I visited I bought a couple of cakes as treats to take home having picked up a sourdough loaf which was free on a store opening offer. By the next day, the sourdough was already becoming stale. It tasted nice, but was nothing special.
The selection of sweet treats looks fantastic, and a feast for the eyes, but I hadnāt noticed just how outrageously expensive it was. I think I paid nearly Ā£10 for two buns to take out. Lots of options for savoury bakes etc, but I havenāt tried any of those.
I returned again a week or so later and bought some more sweet treats. It has to be said the cinnamon bun was one of the best Iāve ever had, but everything else that has was decidedly average tasteāwise but at London prices. We live in an area where things typically cost a fair bit anyway, but I think there are other eateries in Willmslow that just as good, if not better, at a fairer price.
I havenāt eaten in, but the cafĆ© itself is stylishly done and very inviting. The staff are helpful, efficient and friendly. The food displays are also very inviting.
You can eat in (inside seating and a few tables outside) or take out. Thereās limited, free roadside parking, and a multi-storey...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHaving enjoyed the Gails experience all over London I was looking forward to taking my 86yr old Mother for an elevenses coffee and cake. We had a very pleasant greeting, bought our cakes and ordered our coffees at which point we were told to take a seat and wait for our names to be called. We sat down and waited, and waited. Whilst we were waiting we felt really cold as if sitting in a draft. I then realised that the front door was propped open by a brick, really strange for a cold, wet day. 15 minutes passed and still no drinks. I went to the till only to be told that our coffees had been thrown away due to not being collected. Our table was very close to the till point and I hadn't heard my name being called. I was offered replacement coffees but only when ' We're able' I also mentioned the draft and was given the impression that I was a nuisance customer. Credit where it's due, our cakes were lovely and coffees good but absolutely spoiled by the draft from the front door that was still open. I shall be sticking to the Gails in London, the Wilmslow hype a big...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to GAIL's today with my family. My mum had a hot cross bun, she asked if it could be toasted and they wouldn't do it for her. I asked if there was anything vegan and the person behind the baked goods counter didn't know. She then had to go and ask someone. The reply was no savoury vegan options just a chocolate tahini bite. I then asked if I could have the avocado on sourdough toast but was told they don't do that after 2pm. This was 2.15pm and they had no vegan savoury options available. My dad said the soup was okay. None of us particularly liked the coffee and found the place just overpriced in general. Felt like the staff weren't happy either. I know it's busy and I do feel for them. Missed the mark GAIL's! Not sure why they don't mark on the product signs what the allergens are. Would make it a lot...
