I have been to this cafe many times over the years, growing up locally. However itâs been a while since I last visited and being in Nantwich I thought Iâd pop in. The seating layout had changed and it felt quite cramped downstairs, we were sat at a table covered in stains and it felt it really needed some TLC on both the table and the dirty wall I was sat by. We were given a menu, which didnât have much choice and was really expensive, so I asked the waiter what cakes they had, to which he said they have no menu and Iâd have to go next door. So I popped next door to look at them, but there were no labels on anything so it was hard to know what things were. I tried to speak with the lady behind the counter but she was rushing around and answered me like I was irritating her. Both her and another lady were shouting to each other about food and I mistakenly thought they were talking to me and answered that I just would like to know what they all were, but I was completely ignored. At this point I wanted to leave but another lady arrived at our table with the tea so we drank that. The tea was really nice. But I was really shocked at the service I received (or did not receive), and wonât be going back. Donât waste your money, there are plenty of cafes in the area that value your custom and treat...
Read moreCan't believe the appalling service I have just experienced. My sister placed an order via deliveroo and a minute after it was apparently collected it said it was delivered. She rang ginger and pickles who were immediately rude to her and said there was no address on the order - how can someone place an order on deliveroo without an address? They can't, it's not possible. The woman was so aggressive it left my sister in floods of tears.
Having not received the food, I walked round to ask why she had spoken to my sister in such an unkind way - only to be shouted at by someone who was wearing their mask as a chin strap, trying to get into my personal space. They put the bag of food on the floor (obviously cold having just been sat there?!) at which point I left.
Whoever you are, and whoever owns this business, shame on you! It costs nothing to be kind, least of all during such scary times. If you have an issue with deliveroo and them 'not speaking English' as you said, take that up with them, not the customers who have kept you going through two lockdowns. With your attitude, I'll be very suprised if you make it...
Read moreWas recommended to try this place, I'm glad I did. Food and drink- I had an almond croissant warmed up with a cappuccino âđ„ both was absolutely delicious. The almond croissant was nice and moist with plenty of filling and crunchy almonds on top. I'm a bit of a coffee snob and I've got to say, it was a lovely cuppa. My husband had a millionaire shortbread slice with a mocha. He didn't particularly like the mocha as he couldn't taste any chocolate in it.
Atmosphere and service- when we first walked in a young lad asked if we was sitting in or taking out to which I answered sitting in, he then instructed me to sit next door and someone will come to us. I felt like he was looking at me like 'what you still stood there for', I felt a little uncomfortable as I was just looking what cakes/buns/pastries they had. After we sat, a lovely cheerful and helpful lady took our order, which then soon arrived. It started to get a bit busy which meant the noise level was starting to get high, which both me and my husband can't generally deal with. It's to be expected, especially on a Bank holiday so cant...
