Hit or painful miss. Habaneros used to be my favourite spot in both Truro and Falmouth for food. Now when you go to habaneros you must expect the food to be the best you’ve ever eaten in Truro or completely inedible. My orders toppings tasted like water, no flavour in the hot sauce and underneath that just tasted like spices out of the jar. I can’t finish it because it is disgusting. Raw onions, jalapeños the size of tortillas, different tortillas that taste worse. Absolutely no flavour or the flavour of spice out the jar should be embarrassing for this establishment that has proven itself to be more than capable of quality fast food in the past.
This is not the first time I have been disappointed either. Do they have new owners? Most places in Cornwall in this price range are mid but consistent, habaneros is anything but that.
Do not go to this place until they bring the quality back. there is an incredibly high chance you’ll get inedible food. If not inedible they may forget to include sides (happened to me 3 times each time the workers seemed annoyed that I wanted to receive the food I asked for), only half fill the box, hairs in food etc
I never leave terrible reviews and this feels awful but habaneros has been bad/inconsistent for too long and I have no idea how they haven’t gone out of business.
Bring back your loyalty stamp cards! Bring back flavour!
right now I will not be going back to habaneros in fal or truro unless I hear that they have improved, every time I’ve gone in the last year there’s been something wrong and I’m not one to...
Read moreAlways a pleasure to visit the store. It’s a little out the way in Truro but worth finding. Foods always incredibly tasty, the ingredients seem (and taste) top notch, you get big servings, the shops always clean and tidy and even when busy the staff seem happy. Because you can “build” your own food off the menu your choice is pretty much endless and the choice of sauces cater for anyone who doesn’t really like spice right up to fire breathing super hot. I’ve never walked away thinking I’ve been ripped off and I’ve never eaten the food thinking “I wish I had ordered a-bit more “. If you like Burritos, Taco’s or Nachos and live in Cornwall this is literally the place to go. All this sounds super positive so if I was going to give one thing that lets it down slightly (and it doesn’t really let it down being a take out food place), then perhaps that there is little to no seating inside the store, and there’s not really any seating close by to get to quickly either (Victoria Gardens maybe). So skip the salad boxes and get a Burrito which you can eat on the move and pick up lots of napkins, you...
Read moreI was looking for a lunch that wasn't crimped. Don't get me wrong, I love a good pasty and Truro has plenty of them on offer but I just fancied something different. Saw someone else eating a burrito and that was it. A quick Google search and a short walk and I found myself in Habaneros, a quirky little Mexican takeaway on Kenwyn Street. Not overly Mexican themed but you know what's on offer. The menu was easy to navigate, the décor was clean and functional, the music was more Aphex Twin than mariachi. The staff were friendly and welcoming without being "a bit much". I had a veggie burrito with habanero sauce. It was reasonably priced for a "treat lunch" but I couldn't justify going every day. There were about 8 people already waiting but I received my freshly made burrito within 10 minutes. It was big, healthy, substantial and bloody lovely! All the flavours and textures were perfectly balanced. My only criticism is that I needed more napkins than they provided. I will definitely...
