I have visited today with my son and his classmate and my nonverbal autistic 6yo. It was pretty much empty, just a few other families with younger kids watching the new Paddington movie. It was incredible - my son for the first time stayed all the way through the movie, actually watching it, laughing and getting so excited! However that's not apparently what is expected of disabled young kids at the cinema (I did purchase the ticket for a disabled seat, away from everyone). It takes a single employee to spoil the whole experience and an image of the business. Despite a full explanation of my son's condition and apologies, this least inclusive person in the world, carried on nagging me for my child making noises and needing his phone on (I could turn it off, then believe me nobody would be able to stay there for screaming). And what's more ridiculous he targeted another family with twin toddlers who were not able to stay in there seats and were silently walking around their parents seating at the front row with the older child. They weren't in anyone's way, just two little balls of joy wandering around, yet this person, working in customer service, found nothing better to do then to completely spoil their evening as well as ours, making them so uncomfortable that they decided to leave early, and making me feeling like my child, who actually did extremely well and I was so proud of him, should be excluded and ashamed. I have never seen such attitude anywhere before. It was despicable and I wish, whoever that person was, he was no longer allowed near customers and kids because he quite clearly has either knowledge nor consideration to be able to work in...
Read moreAfter an employee incorrectly gave us tickets for the following night, rather than the night we came in, we had a humiliating experience of being escorted out of the full cinema (after sitting through 30 minutes of trailers), as our tickets were no longer valid. We were met at the desk by the manager who was insolent and rude. We received no apology from him, instead we were told 'mistakes happen'. We were offered to sit elsewhere, however all the seats were now full (apart from seats on the periphery of the cinema and the two rows right at the front). While I tried to explain that I came in early to make sure I could watch the film in seating of my choosing and therefore wanted my money back, I was repeatedly interrupted and sighed at. We finally got our money back without even a simple apology from the manager. My partner and I have been loyal customers of Plaza cinemas but will no longer be visiting them again after this humiliating and rude experience (which was, as mentioned, the result of a mistake made by a member of...
Read moreAfter the worst decision ever to attempt to go to St Michael's Mount in the worst rain ever, crossed over the causeway with a couple of inches of waves crossing over, soaked our trainers, socks, jeans soaked right through from top to bottom, the castle was shut, we had a cuppa, headed back to the car, drove to Truro booking into the cinema on the way, took the peak and ride, had time to walk round the shops with our cold sodden socks in our soggy trainers, I bought us all a pair of fluffy socks from Primark, got to the cinema which was lovely, really cheap compared to the large name cinemas, got popcorn, settled into the tiny screen cinema feeling like we were in someone's home. Wet socks off, fluffy socks on, bliss. The film was Good Boys, never laughed so much, the whole film was funny from beginning to end. Love this cinema, one of my favourite parts of our Holiday. Worst part was putting our wet socks and trainers back...
