This isn’t a one star because of the exceptionally warm welcome we received upon entering this place, and the grateful goodbye we were given, that’s where this nice review ends Excruciatingly expensive for exceedingly mediocre food, terrible customer service. The food looks lovely, however the customer base should have told me all I needed to before entering to be honest. I have eaten this kind of food many times, maybe I’m spoilt in Birmingham but I’ve never paid this much or had such boring food before. How do you get hummus wrong? These people did. If there was a spice used to season this food it was probably flour. Bland, slop - no one to ask if our food was ok, they gave out the wrong type of bread, and the price…. For 60 quid I expect better. I have no issue with paying for good food, but I wouldn’t have paid £10 for this, less than cheap supermarket quality. If you’re sat there wondering why I didn’t say anything - well the manager?/owner? Of the place was talking to some customers for so long he actually sat down on the table next to them to continue talking (this is how little value the other customers had) and the other lady/waiter that was working made zero effort to come and ask if we needed anything/how our food was. I had to physically leave my food so I could go and order a drink as our glasses were empty and no one tried to ask if we needed anything despite my brothers best efforts in securing someone’s attention for help. I’m glad I don’t live in York full time if this is the measure of food and customer service people here tolerate.

A Turkish restaurant with a fantastic group of people running it. A group of 5 of us went to Kapadokya on a Saturday night. We ordered starters of hummus, halloumi, beef sausage, prawns, and dolma. All were very tasty indeed and came out within 5 minutes of us ordering them along with some delicious warm bread that had clearly been baked in house. The highlight however were the mains which were the chicken skewers which had been barbecued to perfection on the authentic Turkish grill. The meat was crisp and barbecued on the outside but moist and perfectly cooked on the inside. The staff were all very attentive and the price of the meal was very reasonable. I would recommend this restaurant highly and would certainly return.

I've been here a lot of times over the years. It got worse and more expensive during Covid and just went back for the first time in 12 months. I'd not wanted to go as I didn't think much of it last time but was outvoted by the kids who used to love it.

The service has actually improved - much more responsive than before. However, the food has gone downhill. Two of the starters were OK but a bit overcooked, one tasted like and M&S prawn Indian ready meal which is fine in itself but I can just buy the ready meal... and we got the hummus which was the worst I've ever tasted. It was so watery it was closer to a liquid than hummus, tasteless. In hindsight I should have sent it back.

The main courses that were kebabs were both good but no better than other places that do kebabs in York but are 50% more expensive. The lamb moussaka was probably the best moussaka I've had in my life and I've eaten a lot of them so credit for that though again probably the most expensive moussaka in York. And two of us got chicken 'creme' or something like that which also tasted like ready meal quality... and they give you these miniscule portions of rice. I prefer quality over quantity, I don't want a huge amount - but we all just laughed when our plates arrived.

Overall cost was 40% more than it would have been at other places in York selling similar food plus they added a dish onto the bill that we hadn't ordered. That error happens sometimes. When I opened my mouth to ask about it the waitress sort of finished my sentence and said the name of the dish that I hadn't ordered before I'd said it so I have to question that?! They took it off and apologised for it.

Despite having been a dozen times over the years I won't be going back. There are so many places that serve better food and are better value for money in York. The kids don't want to go...

I am always suspicious of a restaurant that is empty, and I was not wrong...we have been to many many Turkish restaurant here and in London. Therefore we have good experience what to expect. We ordered the platter for two, which was about £49 which I thought was expensive anyway, however when the platter arrived I was in disbelief, the contents were not what is expected of a platter anywhere else, this platter was not fit to be called a platter it was the most minimum platter I have ever experienced. Two lamb chops one adana, four lamb cubes four chicken cubes, four chicken wings, two teacup size rice, NO LAMB DONER, NO CHICKEN DONER, NO BREADS, NO DIPS, SMALL PLATE OF SALAD. I called the waitress n asked her are you serious, would you pay virtually £50 for this, she said taste it, I said I know what Turkish food tastes like, this an outright overcharge. Later the manager cones over asks if everything is good, I informed him of the same that I was very disappointed, how can you charge £50 for this. He said the meat they use is better than the meat in London!! Unbelievable, a rip off on tourists. We ate most of the food but couldnt eat the chicken cubes as they were not nice at all no flavour. The manager came along during the meal offered us homemade bread complimentary, we tried some it was n8ce but it made us feel that he was feeling guilty and my points were valid hence the offering of bread, after the meal we were offered apple tea we tried that too it was too sweet. Proved that my statement hit a nerve. It was a most unenjoyable meal from the beginning the price soured the experience. I would not recommend this restaurant food overpriced and not enough for the price. Don't go to a restaurant that is empty at peak time Staff were...
