This parking facility, located at Convenience Place, is poorly designed, overpriced, and frustrating to use. Here are the major issues I experienced: Tight Entry Design: The entry is too narrow for larger vehicles like SUVs or sedans, with no signage indicating size restrictions. The placement of the ticket machine by the entry barrier increases the risk of scratching or damaging the car on curbs or metal bars. It’s clear that the design was not well-thought-out. Misleading Signage: The parking signs near the street by the entrance are confusing and misleading. They suggest that the parking is not open to the public, causing multiple drivers (myself included) to turn away unnecessarily. Only upon reversing and driving back did I spot the small public parking sign. App Payment Issues: The barcode for app payment didn’t work when I was leaving the parking, forcing me to pay by card instead. To add insult to injury, there was an extra £5 charge for this payment method, which feels exploitative.
In summary, this parking facility is poorly managed and designed, leading to unnecessary stress and extra costs for users. I would not recommend it unless significant...
Read moreWay too tight to get in; I drive a normal sized car (i30) and could only just squeeze between the concrete at either side of the ramp.
Shockingly high price, which is no cheaper for using the app, I mean, it jumps from £15.80 for up to four hours to £26.95 for four to twenty four hours.
We just got out before being charged the higher price (according to the app, it was with 57 seconds to spare), hampered by the fact the entrance with the lift was locked at 10:40pm meaning me, a wheelchair user, had to go round the building and in up the very steep entry ramp to get to my car...why was this entrance locked so early?
Once we tried to exit, the barrier wouldn't raise and kept retuning an 'invalid ticket' message when I tried to scan the QR code. After trying to call for help, it eventually raised.
Terrible car park, but unfortunately the closest one...
Read moreIt's a car park, what more can you say really. I parked my car in it. Well you can say a bit more.. On the plus side: It's in a decent location near Micklegate, fairly easy enough to manoeuvre around in, I had no problems finding a space, pay on exit with the machine on the ground floor. On the negative side, the lift we used was pretty small (you'd have problems with a double buggy), it was pretty dirty also loads of rubbish lying around, and it was REALLY expensive (7.50 for just over an hour). I tend to use Marygate car park which is a cheaper (2.20 an hour) and you get a nice walk through the museum gardens to/from your car. The cheapest car parks are Morrisons or Waitrose at Foss Islands, free for 2 hours for customers (pop in and buy a banana). Its a 10 minute walk from there to the shambles. When you get there you can enjoy...
