Bank holiday Monday so expected it to be busy. Found a table but had to clear it of used cutlery etc as seagulls were attacking tables for leftovers. My wife and her cousin went to order coffees at the main bar across the road, leaving me at the table watching the 3 children. While we waited a member of staff arrived to promptly remove the empty chairs from the table and reposition to other now vacant tables . I ignored this and put it down to the lady being upset at the mess caused by the birds earlier. Two minutes later she returned to ask in a rude manner “are you eating from liberty”. In a respectful manner I replied that my wife had gone to order. Without reply she stormed off still upset at having to clear tables. Having taken offence at the rude manner and approach I went to find my wife to try to get her to cancel her ordering from this establishment. Without success I returned to the table to await their return. Amazingly at the same time the lady (Max) had arrived with our drinks followed by my wife. Then came the final ‘straw’
.. Max (whom her colleagues called her) pointed at the pastry and said “you can’t eat that here”. Gob smacked at the rudeness shown I explained to her (without any bad language) that you don’t treat customers in such distain and a rude manner , making sure other customers had heard my complaint. I’m sorry that the pastry had been bought at another establishment but we had bought our drinks from them and my wife hadn’t even sat down, not knowing at that point who’s seating was who’s ? In this day and age of money being tight I’m amazed that someone can be so rude to customers and think they’re right in doing so. Her questioning could have been in a more polite manner without trying to belittle someone. Thankfully other members of staff didn’t seem to share her same issues in courtesy and...

After visiting this place last year and having such a great time thought we would go for a coffee so popped in there yesterday11th July 2025 and was so disappointed we found a table and proceeded to place order at bar 1 peppermint tea and 2 coffees after 30 minutes still nothing so approached the staff and asked the question and the reply shocked me . The manager in charge said hat they are very busy and i have a new member of staff and a kitchen to run we will do your order now WOW i thought how rude so sat back down and 10 minutes later they turned up . There was 4 members of staff on and it was that busy there was plenty of seats inside and out i just couldn’t believe the difference 12 months can make . On my departure i approached the manager and told her that i was very disappointed in the service her reply was we very busy and short staffed not my problem i told her you should organise your staff better and not be so rude to customers she didn’t even apologise how rude . If the owners of this place read these reviews i would seriously be concerned and they need to take action the amount of people that where walking out was very worrying and if i owned this place would take action before it...

Went yesterday during the lunchtime rush, so had a 40 minute wait, but nothing not to be expected, and we were informed prior of an expected 20 minutes. What sadly let this down was two fronts.

One of the waitresses (and I say only one as the other was excellent) was quite rude and upon being asked "would it be possible to get another fork, as I dropped mine" responded "there should be three sets on your table" to which I stated again that I had dropped mine prior to her walking off, never to return with the aforementioned fork.

Having been seated near the back we discovered why all their rear tables where empty. The facilities next to our table do not have a spring to close the door and thus anyone thoughtless enough to leave the door open rings the noise of the handryer across the restaurant. This issue could be solved with great ease by adding a springed system to pull the door slowly closed.

The food and milkshakes however were excellent. The cappuccino milkshake dissappeared rapidly and both the prawn and the crab sandwichs were lovely.

Would still recomend, but not if you're in a hurry, and avoid sitting...

This is an absolute gem of a cocktail bar that you need to visit if you are nearby. Firstly, the decor both inside and out is amazing and really makes you feel comfy and ready to work your way through the menu. The staff are on another level with their service ⭐ You can always guarantee your drink will be made to perfection and no eye-rolls when you ask for an Espresso Martini as there is also a coffee & tea bar there too. The menu is very extensive and gives a clear description on what the drink is. Each drink is decorated to a high level and garnished to perfection. If alcohol isn't your thing, they do have an impressive selection of teas and other non-alcoholic drinks and their cakes are just beautiful. Definitely worth a visit if you are nearby, you won't regret it.

I just loved this place! From the decor, to the food and people working there are all lovely! On my holiday to Torbay, I aimed to find and nice cosy cafe to get my daily coffee! This place was spot on! People are so friendly and helpful! Was there for cake and coffee and they helped us for all our questions for the dessert menu! All our choices were super delicious! Decor was nice too, there was a thought put on decorating the place. Not just chairs and table waiting the customers but every single detail was thought well! Will definitely be back any time I visit Torbay! Well done team (both client facing and baking team in the back stage preparing the delicious food)!

A real gem in our home town and we are so lucky to have an amazing establishment such as this. 3 real highlight's to Liberty; The décor is fantastic the quality of the food and cakes is one of the best in Torbay and the staff are so friendly and efficient. Special thanks to Maxine the Manager she is brilliant. Very attentive and creates a great team spirit. Look forward to going back soon and supporting our local business after the busy summer tourist season.
