My husband and I have just returned from a delightful trip to Devon for a break to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We stayed 5 nights at the wonderful Beacon House. From the warm welcome we received on arrival to the delicious breakfast to set us up for our departure, our stay was nothing short of first class. Natalie and Herve are the dream team who work so well together to create a marvellous experience for their guests. We loved everything about our stay. We stayed in the Marina View room (where we could see the Marina!) which was bright, airy, spotlessly clean and a good size, plus we had a roll top bath which was a lovely treat to sink into. The house is charming with pretty gardens which Natalie lovingly tends. There are three sitting areas in the garden with wonderful views over Brixham where you can admire the views over a drink before going into town to sample some of the culinary delights of this working fishing village.
Saving the best for last I cannot praise the breakfast enough. In my experience the finest 5-star hotels don't offer as much choice as Herve and Natalie do. I tried to have something different every day and on the last day just had to have the ‘full Monty’ before our journey home, featuring Herve’s Toulouse sausage and Franglais baked beans (a must). The food was so delicious and beautifully cooked. Herve’s passion for food comes through in his breakfasts. One day he wanted to try serving calf’s liver for those guests who would like to try it. My husband did. It was served with crispy bacon, seared cabbage, poached egg with hollandaise sauce and the trademark paddle skewer of juicy, sweet, petite tomatoes. He (and the other two guests who had it) said it was perfectly cooked and melted in the mouth. It's currently another welcome addition to the menu.
Thank you Natalie & Herve for a perfect stay and for making our wedding anniversary special....

We spent a wonderful stay at Beacon House as a family of four in July 2023. Nathalie and Hervé greeted us warmly on arrival with a welcome drink.
We stayed in the Bay View Room and Beacon Room. Each room has a private balcony overlooking the harbor, the Bay View Room even has a 3.5 m long private balcony. The panoramic views from both rooms are stunning.
The rooms are furnished with attention to detail and the beds are extremely comfortable. You can make coffee (coffee capsules) or tea in the room, for the girls there was hot chocolate. There is a fridge in the entrance area with free bottles of water for guests.
We loved the great breakfast by Hervé (the French chef in the kitchen), decorated with edible flowers from their garden. It is obvious that Nathalie and Hervé have worked in the hospitality industry for years. Everything is of a very high standard and the hosts are very attentive.
We received lots of tips for exploring the area and restaurant suggestions. Hervé knew all the best restaurants and the best things to order from the menus. The assistance with table reservations at sought-after restaurants was also very welcome and helpful. Many thanks for that.
The free parking right at Beacon House B&B is worth its weight in gold. From Beacon House it is only a few minutes’ walk to the harbour.
Thank you very much! Hopefully we...
Read moreDue to the pandemic we had to wait two years to enjoy Beacon House. We booked for 2020 but then Covid-19 struck and so we rebooked for 2021 but this also fell victim to restrictions, so we rebooked for 2022 and were finally able to take up residence in June. The attraction of the Bay View room and the claims regarding the breakfasts were the reasons for our choice. We were not disappointed and it was well worth the wait. The room was very tastefully laid out, the balcony was more generous than we anticipated and the view was truly spectacular, presenting an uninterrupted panorama of the marina and harbour and the entire sweep of the opposite peninsular. The breakfasts were the finest we had ever experienced in any holiday accommodation, unique in composition, cooked with consummate skill and served with pleasing precision. One consequence of the elevated location is that, while the harbour and town centre are but five minutes’ walk away, some could find the return climb demanding by foot and a tad tricky by car for those unfamiliar with tightly curved and narrow domestic roads. That aside, Beacon House is a truly splendid place to stay for bed and Breakfast in Brixham. The hosts were charming and informative with respect to local knowledge and have a unique approach to breakfast cuisine.
All in all, we found the service to be top notch and can recommend this establishment...
