The Brixham battery is staffed by very knowledable, friendly and enthusiastic volunteers who had past experience with various aspects of the exhibits. The historys of various exhibit pieces had been researched and we were shown where they came from and how they were utilised. We were personally conducted around the small site and didnt feel as though we had missed a thing. We spent more than an hour there chatting and having our questions answered and wished that we had been there just a little earlier. There was a really good exhibition of 2nd world war small arms and light weapons, some of which I had cause to use during periods of instruction with the cadet force. I simply hadn't imagined that I would get to see such things again or discuss the use of them with someone who knew a thing or two. It is a definite attraction to visit in the off season when the staff have the time to show the restored equipment and conduct a tour. If we could give 6...

Came here today on my way back to Brixham via the coastal path it was tricky to find on my way there as the forest is huge between the beaches/coves at the bottom of the battery gardens I was met by volunteers at the door and they were all friendly, helpful, attentive, knowledgeable I wish I went earlier as there is tons of history to read and discover in the museums there The staff showed me around and explained further information in great detail They informed me of open days and events, definitely the best museum I have ever been to! Big shout out to Andy, Darren (I think? Bloke who greeted me outside the entrance and took my donation around 3pm today) and a few other staff who were based around the back of the museum towards the workshop- one volunteer even gave me a souvenir to take home thankyou very much for being so lovely and kind whilst I came, really enjoyed my visit! I would highly recommend there is something for everyone...

Just want to thank one of the volunteers there for calling me back to confirm that this coming Sunday, 11th May 2025, they'll be open for longer than usual for the VE 80th commemorations, from 11:00 - 16:00, with tours of the gardens and grounds, and displays of blank weapons fire.

All of this is free, and this heritage site wouldn't exist without generous donations from the public, so if you truly want to honour those who helped protect this country from Fascism 80 years ago, why not pop along, learn a thing or two, enjoy a bit of free entertainment, and pop a bob or two into the collection tin on your way out to show your...

Did not know the museum was there to be honest. Signs from the town centre were for the Battery Gardens. What an absolute gem of a find it was. Knowledgeable volunteers very willing to help and show us around the displays and artifacts in the museum. Only wish we had longer to stay. Plenty of allied and German arms on view and achieved my wish to handle the Bren gun my father was tasked with in Ww2. Many other displays to see as well as the old emplacements in the gardens. Free entry but donations more than welcome. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. Many thanks to the guides.

What a great little find this place was. Trying to find things the boy will enjoy while on holiday can sometimes be tough (apart from arcades). This place hit the mark. A fantastic volunteer run display of wartime weapons and other ephemera. Free to enter, you can make a donation which we did but there could not have been less pressure to donate if they’d tried. A live (blank) firing of some of the guns was a bit of a treat for the young one, they gave out the empty shells after to the eager kids. All in all a really good hour spent. Well worth a visit.

My wife and I came across this museum when we were walking along the Southwest coastal path, it was closed at that time but said it would be open 2pm until 4pm the following day. Upon arrival we were met by nice gentleman who suggested the best place to start and gave a little bit of information about the museum, it isn't very big but very interesting with lots artefacts from the 2nd world war. A very interesting way to spend an hour and it's free, you are welcome to leave a donation as you leave.
