A mixed experience here, took my wife and kids for my wife's birthday, it was hot outside but hotter inside, uncomfortably so, it's nice they have a wood fired oven, but that adds to the heat (probably great in winter), so they really need to sort out some cooling for the place, food was mixed. My kids loved their pizza's, the 12" thin and crispy garlic bread was excellent, but the dough balls average, the hand cut chips nice, my wife's Bolognese was ok but nothing special, we holidayed around Lake Como, Italy, last year and ate loads of good Italian food, so were surprised when the Bolognese came out as a plate of pasta with the Bolognese dolloped on top, instead of being mixed together in a pan before serving. The brushetta also was disappointing, that became our favorite starter or snack around Lake Como, but Moutreys is an unusual concoction. But the worst was the bit I was most looking forward to... Meatballs!, I just love good Italian meatballs... But these were not good, they were heavy on the herbs, so much so that was all I could taste, I cut a couple in half to find clumps of herbs inside so obviously the mixture just hadn't been mixed properly, also while a couple were well done, others were either pink or even slightly red inside... Inconsistent cooking!, the menu said the dish was hot (spicy), and it was, which is fine, but the source was all heat and not much flavor, the cold pints of peroni were good though. The staff are good doing the best we could expect, can't be easy working in that heat, but some aspects of some of the food need a little more TLC...

Lovely place. The restaurant is filled with a pleasant smoke wood smell from the oven which also adds a wonderful smokey taste to the food. I started with the bread and oil. The bread was so fresh and nicely warmed in the oven. The oil came in a large bowl, balsamic to the base, olive oil to the top. My preference would have been to have these seperate as it was very difficult getting the balsamic on the bread, as the olive saturated it first. Main, I chose the Verde pizza (see pic). Looked gorgeous and tasted lovely from the wood flame stoned oven, which gave it a wonderfully unique taste. Only grumbles.. Base had been over rolled for my taste, so was very thin and tough. This did not ruin it though. Also, I love spinach, I truly do, but splodge it on in a heap is always a bad idea... It leaves the spinach cold and moist. Not good for a pizza. Still, this did not spoil the meal. The toppings were very fresh, goats cheese given in generous portion (I love goats cheese so that was big plus for me), and it was nice to find asparagus on there. No room for pud, and they kindly boxed up the pizza half I couldn't manage... Looking forward to that tomorrow! I thoroughly enjoyed it, service very prompt even though they were very busy, and they were accommodating throughout. I would definitely eat there again.

We had such a lovely meal here on Saturday night. We briefly met the owner of Moutreys having breakfast earlier that day. We didn't know however, until we walked in for our reservation & he recognised us. Very lovely owner who mentioned they were 3x staff members down. It didn't seem that way though! We ordered the chicken wings to start and they were lovely, really decent size and came with 3x dips. We had pepperoni pizza and carbonara for our mains and tasted incredible. We had the tiramisu for dessert and it was probably the best we'd ever had! Absolutely delicious. The staff were so lovely & attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We sat upstairs and had a great view of the kitchen and restaurant. Would highly recommend Moutreys!

Quite possibly the worst evening meal we’ve experienced in a long time. We brought our children for a meal and i wished we hadn’t. We ordered starters of garlic bread and mixed olives. Well the olives were basically from a jar and contained jalapeño peppers, sun dried tomatoes and pickled onions in what can only be described as rancid oil. It was disgusting. My husband ordered bruschetta which was more like w cirque moisseur. It was more like a wedge of bread toasted with so much melted mozarella cheese. We explained that this was not what we were w or ting having eaten in many Italian restaurants. The chef was very dismissive and quite aggressively said that’s how they serve it and that’s it!!!! Wow!! The kids meals was fine, spag Bol, can’t really go wrong. I ordered the king prawn salad of which the tomatoes were turning. They literally fizzed in my mouth and anyone who has any knowledge of food knows that’s because they are almost off!! My husband ordered a chicken Cesar salad and it can as a Parmo on a bed of wilting leaves. It was smothered in cheese and very off putting. We sent it back and the chef/staff were so defensive. We were very pleasant and explained without making a fuss. It was quite possibly one of the worst experiences eating out we’ve had in our lifetime. Our 2 boys felt awkward as they knew we were not enjoying it. I had to say to the chef to forget making a new Cesar salad as we had eaten (well I picked at my £15.95 salad). She was far from accommodating. The bill arrived and they had the audacity to add on the bruschetta which we sent back and did not eat. The staff/chef did not offer anything to replace this. For anyone wanting an Italian meal experience please do not visit this restaurant, the food was more than poor and the staff/chef (in particular) was very rude and defensive. Poor...

Negative experience right from the start. We arrived 20 minutes early for our reservation and was met at the door by a waitress who told us we were early, and we wouldn't be allowed in as our table wasn't ready. We totally understand we were early but her attitude was off from the start. We returned 20 minutes later at our reservation time and the same lady who was rude earlier looked at us waiting at the door and ignored us for 5 minutes before letting us inside. We were getting our masks ready to wear and she snapped at us, demanding we put the masks on, which were were doing. She told us to sanitise at the bar, the sanitiser was empty so she snapped at us again and told us to use a dirty bottle of sanitiser that was left on the side, sticky and covered in old hand gel. She walked off ahead and told us to collect our own menus before pointing to a table shoved under a staircase at the top of a set of stairs that led down to the toilets and told us to "sit there" before she walked off and wasn't seen again. The table was crammed into a corner with no headroom due to the overhanging staircase we were sat under and right at the top of the toilet stair case so about 6 people walked past us in the 5 minutes we were sat there, not very covid safe at all! There was 2 free tables for 2 people at the time so we wondered why we had been sat on this table that shouldn't have even been used! After 5 minutes, we decided there was no point in us staying at the venue as we felt the service we had received from said waitress was appalling and honestly we didn't want to waste our money, we left and decided to take our custom else where, in fact moving to another local restaraunt where we were greeted warmly and sat on a...
