Sorry for the bad review, but this was a real disappointment. This might just be a one off after reading other reviews? Admittedly three meals out of four were good, but my wife ordered crab, prawn and a baked potato and what turned up was some crab, prawns, salad and some cold chopped up deep fried potatoes. This meal was almost £17 and she's had much nicer crab salads for less than this price in other places. My wife was very polite and asked for the deep fried cold potatoes to be heated up as it was meant to be a jacket potato according to the menu. They brought out some chips once the meal was finished instead. When we came to ask for the bill, we were given a unitemised bill for over £98 ...this was for 4 meals and 4 drinks (2 of which were soft drinks). We got a menu and worked out that we were being over charged by at least £26. When we queried the bill, we were told that "table 3" had been given our bill, so now we were paying for their bill !!....it sounds unbelievable but this is absolute fact. We had to argue that our bill was what we were going to pay and that was that we weren't going to pay for another tables! 10 minutes later the waitress came back with an itemized bill for £71. We paid and left. We will not be returning. Sorry for the bad review, but this is what happened ...I have never complained about a restaurant ever, but this was an exception. It's the first time we haven't left a tip either. Check your bill is...

Posh restaurant in Whitby? The food was ok rather than good. Was a little disappointed that 15 minutes after ordering I was told that they had run out of my order. Restaurant also suffers from a bit of an identity crisis. 3 menus plus a kids menu but then Whitby has the same identity issue so not surprised. Waiter was ok but had to confirm which menu we were ordering from each time and could not make a recommendation when my original order was unavailable. We left our empty wine bottle out of the cooler when it was finish. Regrettably we were never I offered a another drink. Sadly my steak was well done rather than medium rare and one of our mains was missing all together. The seabass was described as over cooked and over seasoned but got eaten. Eventually a new steak arrived and the second seabass but without some elements. Maybe they were having a bad night. The wine list surprisingly good and reasonable, most bottles around £25. The mains which ranged from £20 -30 for anything you would really want. Altogether a rather disappointing experience for £150+ for 3 people and 3 kids with wine. A bad experience always inspires you to right more. Maybe they had a bad night, they were very apologetic and took 50%...

We came here after reading good reviews . Disappointing doesn't cut it . I run a business and finally got 1 weekend off this month. 3 tables of all together of 7 people entered and sat after we already ordered and had drinks yet 3 tables recieved food first as they forgot to put our order in the kitchen . Theres only 10 tables in the whole reasturant. They missed items off our meal but charged for them anyways . It took over an hour to recieve mains after sharing a starter of half a chicken breast cooked in sauce with boiled rice. Were not talking sharing platters .

I dont mind prices , I will happily pay £75 upwards for 2 on a date night and tip respectfully as we as a business respect hard work on any level or trade .

We left 2 more than half full plates still missing items paid an left it was that bad . If I didnt deal with complaints and queries daily I would have attempted. Just wanted some good hot food on a rainy day . I'd hope we went on an off night, too bad to return for a second chance.

The conservatory in scarbrough charged half the price we paid for 2 here, with more food that was cooked an tasted better .

Good value and service wasn't found...

(Note these experiences were gained on their second day of re-opening). Bean Burger (with Fries) and Vegetarian Fajitas ~ £11.95 Each. The food was presented nicely and both were cooked well. Each were found to be very flavourful. However, due to understaffing and the restaurant hitting its max capacity; fries were undercooked and waiting times were post 1hour, leading toward 1.5 hours. Portion sizes of the mains were, mediocre for the price; with the size of the £11.95 Bean Burger being comparable to the size of a Mc'Donalds standard cheese burger (alas with thicker bread). The waiters were friendly, aware of and apologetic for the issues affecting service however. ~ Get those portion sizes up a bit and a few more kitchen staff and they're onto a winner.

The Edge was a lovely restaurant, really glad we booked here for a meal. First time trying oysters and they were really nice. The portions were huge but that didn't stop us finishing everything it was so good. Wish we had room for a dessert! The staff were lovely, very attentive and checked in with us regularly which was a really nice touch. The only thing I would say is that from the outside it does look more like a café (which could result in many people walking straight by) and if there was a little makeover, maybe making it more sea themed side and upgraded the menus slightly I think it would be even more successful! Thank you for such a lovely night, if we ever find ourselves in Whitby again we will be sure to come back!

The seafoods are great and we enjoyed them truly but unfortunately, the seafood bouillabaisse is a large portion for me. So I asked the male waiter to boxed it to go. He nods and took the plate. After we paid everything, we asked for our to-go box and he said, “okay, I’ll bring you the to-go box”. We correct him and said, we want the foods we asked for takeaway. He later told that he thrown it away already 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ He didn’t even apologise for wasting my foods. The management really need to asked your staffs to confirm things first if they don’t understand what to do or unsure. A simple question to confirm everything would have make the dining experience better, not bitter.
