This place absolutely blew me away, I would travel the 150 mile from my home to Blackpool just to visit here.
I'm a huge fan of south indian food so I was on the hunt for a decent looking place to visit one evening and we came across this place and the wife fancied it so dragging my heels off we went.
We were seated in a nice part of a secluded booth, which was a plus as I'm not a lover of being too close to others (just my condition causes this, but nit important). I heade straight to the indian cuisine with very low expectations, and boy, was I in for a shock. Eating the Korai it was as good as any Korai id had in an Indian restaurant which at this point got me excited as I felt like I was about to take an exciting ride into a variety of not just different foods but quality different foods.
I headed to the chinese cuisine, the chilli chicken and a seafood dish (cant remember the name) that I had were really nice, there was prawns, calamari and one of my favourite ingredients baby octopus omg it was lovely. Then, onto the duck wraps. We couldn't believe the pile of shredded duck here at our disposal. Normally, at buffets, you get a few scraps of dried up shredded duck but not here. Polished off the duck wraps, which were nice, but they just didn't excite me as much as the other dishes on offer. Please note, this was by no means anything to do with their shredded duck, it could have been the greatest shredded duck in the world but I prefer a stronger flavour in a dish which i knew i could get here.
I went over to check out what to get next, I'm a meat lover, so I was drawn to the carvery, and there next to this section was a fridge with diferent uncooked meats, marinated chicken breasts, lamb chops and sirloin steaks. I asked what this was to be told you pick your protein and he will freshly grill it right there for you which nearly knocked my best socks off. I had every piece of meat and every peice was cooked to perfection. I found the steak quite to but I can forgive this as sirloin can be chewy I find.
So after 7 plates of food off I shuffle to sample a dessert or 3. As I approach the desserts i find a guy cooking fresh seafood, similar to the meat set up but with seafood. There was fresh white fish in the fridge, squid prawns and there was another receptacle but this was empty. I couldn't resist, i got him to cook me squid and fresh prawns. He cooked on a flat top, threw soy sauce and a few other bits n pieces on (not sure what) omg it was out of this world.
Over next to seafood guy was the sushi. I love sushi but never sampled it here as it didnt look as good as I thought it was going to be considering after what I had already experienced my expectations were now pretty high. There was only cali roll with either veg, tuna or crab stick which was a little disappointing.
Anyway now for dessert. There was a huge selection of different cakes, puddings, ice creams plus a chocolate fountain. I sampled the creme brulee, the panacota and the mud cake. I cant really comment on these as Im not a big dessert eater so I wouldnt know if they were good or bad but I enjoyed them either way.
They do have a no waste policy so be sure not to leave any food or you will be charged. I'm a big fan of this as I hate seeing piles of food being wasted in buffet restaurants plus theres not a chance of my leaving anything so i knew i wasnt going to be charged. This also benefited my wife and daughter because anything they didnt like or couldn't eat jyst heads my way and see to it theres no waste.
Myself, my wife along with our daughter left here extremely satisfied and happy.
Its certainly not the cheapest place to eat but believe me when I say its worth every penny.
Message to the restaurant owners, please start a chain of your restaurant. Running a business and ensuring the business is a success certainly isnt my field of expertise but food is and after visiting your place I can guarantee no matter where you open you will be a success, even if to do so I have to visit every restaurant, every day for your food....
Read moreI am writing this on boxing day night after watching my wife vomit at home for five hours on Christmas day at home & 14 hours in A& E which tells you how terrible this place is. To start this Christmas nightmare we booked in months ago for our family dinner of four with a 50% cash deposit and got a written receipt for Christmas day but on arrival we where advised we had only paid a £10 deposit each and shown a machine receipt for £40 cash we had never receive, not the £80 cash receipt we paid. The new receipt was obviously put in the till after the fact later and wrong but because I didnt have the written receipt with me & we where caught out. It gets better on checking the new food & drink receipt at the table we where charged for FIVE drinks not the four we ordered, after a very long argument with the waiter we got the extra drink we never received refunded but told it will take 7-10 days for the refund. If it was not Christmas day and I was not with my wife and family I would have demanded a full refund there and then but obviously if I did that theres not Christmas Dinner on Christmas day for my family, what a mistake that was, we should have left there and then. The nightmare continued with my wife's parma violet gin coming wrong and being given something disgusting drink she couldn’t drink, at this point we had gave up complaining because they simply didn't care or listen. I personally didn't eat one thing because of the bad taste in my mouth from the experience and couldn't wait to leave. On leaving my wife went to order a taxi onside with my kids whilst I spoke to the owner. To my surprise all I got was an aggressive agourgant man who sproated nothing butruddish about how he had a million pound turn over binssnes and didnt need my money but he said he had noticed I hadn't eaten a thing and offerd a one person refund that I didn't receive and he clearly just wanted rid of me and in fairness I just wanted to leave completely frustrated and annoyed with the whole situation. On leaving to get the taxi home I found my wife vomiting on the street outside which I can contim now was food positioing after spending 14 hours in A&E in escalations on drips of fluid and anti sickness, with first paracetamol for the pain & then give morphine it got that bad! My best advice would be to avoid this place and if you do go check your receipt and definitely do not book months in advance with cash. At this moment none of that helps with our families Christmas & boxing day ruined after watching my wife vomiting time and time again in A&E on Christmas day night and all boxing day. We know 100% it was Mr Basrai's food because my wife did not eat a thing Christmas day saving herself for this visit until 5pm, she's not a big eater. A bit of freindly advice Mr Basrai's yours customers should always come first and when someone doesn't eat a thing in protest on Christmas day which you noticed theres clearly an issue and playing the big man with bravado not caring about your customers is not the answer. I and all my family and associates will never step foot in your establishment ever again but I know who will the food stardards agency! This is the most unprofessional, rude corrupt restaurant that serves food that puts your loved ones in hospital on Christmas & boxing day. Legal action and a report to food stardards agency and media reports will follow and I completely stand by this statement as a...
Read moreWe had booked knowing it would be busy as it was a Saturday and when the illuminations were on. We expected it to be busy and it was. We told the waiter we had booked upon entering.. we were told to wait but it was not clear why we were waiting. We were one of the first people in there as it had only just opened. We were then ushered over to a lady who wanted us to pay before eating (fair enough .. I imagine they get people trying it on and not paying) however we were immediately asked what we wanted to drink not knowing what was available and not being told what what we could have. We had to ask. We then got told about the unlimited refill drinks which we thought great and ordered these not realising that they were only fizzy drinks. We had a lot of trouble explaining this to a waiter as we had a member of our family who doesn't like fizzy drinks. We eventually spoke to someone who was able to help and she kindly said we could swap to cordial. The food was okay ... just what I would expect from a very busy buffet. We were all able to find something to eat. In conclusion it was far too busy with the entrance area completly blocked as we were leaving with people queuing to get in. This isn't completly the restaurants fault as like I said it was the illuminations but I do think it could have been handled better. I think the staff could be more helpful. The plus sides were the refillable drinks (for those who like fizzy drinks) and quick food with a variety to choose from. I probably wouldn't return to this particular restaurant however I have been to others from the same chain and had a much...
