A traditional and classical Edwardian stone building in central Blackpool with some fine pictures. In particular, there is an original portrait of the legendary Colonel TE Lawrence of that ilk, otherwise known as "Lawrence of Arabia". The portrait shows Lawrence in RAF uniform and dates from the late 1920s. Worth a visit for this portrait alone. I read a remarkable article written by Lawrence, while serving in the ranks of the RAF in the 1930s. It dealt technically with and brilliantly explained the then new science and application of aerial photography. I visited when the open exhibition was on and saw some interesting paintings, sculptures and other media by local artists. Was impressed with what I saw but would also have liked to see more of the Grundy's permanent collection on display.
