A friend and I dined at New Bombay for the first time last night. The service given by the staff was warm, friendly and attentive without being overbearing which set the tone for what was an enjoyable meal. We were able to select our starters and mains without feeling rushed, from a varied menu which wasn't to extensive. My friend and I ordered the King Prawn Puri for starters which was very tasty. The prawns were tender and served in a delicious, spicy tomato masala sauce, served on a crisp and light deep fried puri. For our mains my friend ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala curry, and I ordered the Prawn Biryani. The waiting time between courses was just right in my opinion, enough time to allow a the conversation to follow between courses. The portion sizes are very generous, maybe to generous as I couldn't finish all my main (which for me is a rarity). The food is tasty and at a very reasonable price. We shall return again. Read moreAbsolutely appalling, ordered using deliveroo. Was given time of 17.45 food arrived and hour later. I made three calls where one of those I was told, thank you mam and hung up, but I was mid sentence. I asked to speak to manager I couldn't they said they would get him to ring me he never did. Well then It got worse, food was obviously cold and you guessed it wrong, ordered two mushroom rice got one plain one mushroom, order chicken madras, got paw g 100% not madras, this was watery and not very flavourful. Then the lamb rogon tasted like tomatoe, and under cooked onions, there was half a tin of plumb tomatoes and 4 bits of lamb, tasted awful, dog ate most of it, very disappointed is an understatement, will never order again We get a family takeaway treat very rarely and this has now ruined it for the next few months until we try again not...
Read moreWe have visited the New Bombay many times but this was the first time under the new management of Shish who used to manage the Bengal Brasserie. I had the lamb chops for starter (yummy) and the chicken shashlick main with lemon rice (not on the menu but they suggested it), tarka dhal and saag. Everything was great, and not too fatty. The shashlick was beautifully cooked. My partner started with tenga mitta (again this was not on the menu but we have had it at the Bengal Brasserie and they were happy to cook it specially) and her main was Chicken tenga (she shared my rice and veg). She says it was perfectly tangy and fantastic. The service was prompt and very friendly and it was great to notice that they now do a range of non-alcoholic drinks including mocktails and non-alcoholic Cobra! A perfect evening. Thanks to Shish and...
