Great place, and amazing for vegans! Me and my partner popped in for a late lunch at around 3pm, and we were very impressed with the quality of the food, drinks and service. As vegans we often go to cafes where there aren't many options for us to eat, or the vegan options seem the least interesting on the menu, like they have been thrown together as an afterthought. We accept this as a consequence of our life choices, but are delighted when we feel more accommodated. At 'No Monkey Business', the menu accommodates vegans excellently, by having a large portion of the menu (I would say at least 1/3) being suitable for vegans. These options aren't in a separate section of the menu, and instead seem to be a main part of the menu, with much consideration having been put into them. I had the 'chickpea and coconut stew with flatbread', which was delicious and something a bit different, and my partner had the 'spicy beans with plant-based feta and flatbread' which he loved. The food and drinks arrived quickly, and the staff members were lovely, friendly and helpful. We aren't local to Keswick but we visit the town semi-regularly, so we will definitely be back soon! Just a note - it would be really great if you included a (vg) or similar notation on the menu to denote vegan options. It took us a little while and asking the staff members, to realise what was vegan, and I imagine some vegans would see the menu displayed without such symbols and just leave, which would be an awful shame!

Great little cafe/ cocktail bar. Coffee was very good, great tasting fresh coffee. (a range of different milks are available). My son had a hot chocolate which came with cream and marshmallows.... and was very nice. The Coffee and Walnut cake was really nice, not too sweet, just a nice amount of coffee taste with coped walnuts in top.... There is indoor and outside seating, the toilets are around the back, up some steps. There was great music playing inside and also a selection of board games to play. The cafe is Dog friendly. Well done all, my family and I really enjoyed your cafe...

Polite and friendly staff, clean premises, and quick service. I had the Himalayas chickpea curry and it was lovely—flavourful and satisfying. A friends had pesto burger which was reported as being tasty. The flat white coffees were served in a tumblee style glass, which isn’t really my preference, especially if it were a colder day, but it was warm enough on this occasion. All in all, a pleasant visit and I’m happy to recommend. Thanks.

Unfortunately nothing but monkey business.

Arrived with the waitress advising us on what to order and that some dishes were not that adequate.

We then choose what we wanted to order.

Half way through waiting they came up to me and told me they no longer had any pulled pork and asked if I wanted anything else. Which I replied no then, I am ok.

As my partner was eating her food, when she had nearly finished they then came up to me and said they have some pulled pork now and asked if I still wanted my order. Which I replied no, its abit late now.

Overall staff need more training as I've never been to a place that serves food where the staff tell you what not to order. Definitely wouldn't be recommending this place to friends or family and I definitely wont be returning.

Update from reply.

Actually when I pointed things out on the menu, the waitress clearly said I wouldn’t order that… or its not worth it or its quite small.

Regarding the pork, she actually came upto and told me that there was no pulled pork left and asked if I wanted to order anything else… which I politely said no..

When my partner was almost finished her meal.. she came to me and said that they have just had a delivery and if I wanted my order I can order it.

Please get facts right before replying

More staff training required… even never had any issues with any of the other restaurants in the area as I am local and I often go back to all of the other places, however I wont be returning to receive monkey business.. especially staff telling me whats good or...

We recently visited No Monkey Business and had a mixed experience. The atmosphere was pleasant, and we appreciated the variety of vegan and vegetarian options on the menu. The staff warned us about a potential half-hour wait for food, which we found considerate.

However, there were notable issues with training and organization. Upon being seated, it took about 10 minutes for the table to be cleaned. We were then asked for our order before even being given menus. Although our food arrived earlier than expected, it was unfortunately cold, which was disappointing.

Additionally, we experienced a long wait for cutlery, which delayed our ability to start eating. The waiter got distracted with other tasks, but thankfully, a lady at the coffee station noticed and brought us cutlery after a while.

Overall, the place has potential with its nice atmosphere and thoughtful menu options, but it clearly needs either more staff or better training to handle busy times more...
