I visited Oakberry recently and was really disappointed by how I was treated. I had my trainee assistance dog with me and asked for a small amount of tap water for him- a very basic request, especially on a hot day. I had already paid £10.99 for an Acai bowl and had not just wandered in off of the street. I was originally refused because it would require using a disposable paper cup. When I explained it was for my service dog in training, the staff were still dismissive and very rude about it. Eventually the man serving gave in but huffed “I’ll just have to pay for it then.”
I was a paying customer, and this experience made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable, I felt like I couldn’t even sit in and eat my food as the staff seemed so annoyed by my basic request. Service dogs are protected by law, and refusing to accommodate them, especially something as simple and low-cost as tap water, is not only thoughtless, it’s discriminatory.
I won’t be returning, and I hope Oakberry takes this feedback seriously and trains staff to treat all customers with basic respect and awareness, especially those with...
Read moreWas very excited to try this. Well, staff is super friendly, service is fast, fruits fresh. however! it’s super sweet, we aim for unprocessed foods, so we know that fruits pretty much do all the magic for you. We didn’t taste any fruit in the purée (we opted for strawberry/ and blueberry & we couldn’t taste a difference due to the high syrup/ sugar amount). Yah, they might use organic syrups etc, but to be ‘healthy’ you should seriously consider ditching this stuff - or at least limited it to a minimum. It would be also useful to recommend certain basics such as oats as otherwise bowls feel more like slushies (which isn’t the point I believe), especially for people who haven’t tried this before / or are not familiar with the menu outcome, might be helpful to avoid disappointment. We couldn’t finish the shake or the small bowl as too sugary. Not for us, you can buy a yogurt and put some fruits in, way more delicious than this, also very very pricey for...
Read moreHaving stumbled across Oakberry in Brighton, my partner and I were completely blown away! We thought it was our little obsession - having only tried it before abroad in Europe (Barcelona and Lisbon) but we were so happy to have found it at a relatively local spot for us! Although the prices are around £3/4 more expensive than it’s European branches, which does limit how much you can justify one, each time we get it, it’s just bliss. So fresh, and being able to choose from really great, seasonal and fresh toppings is great! We’ve spread the word amongst our friends bc we can’t shut up about it! We’re very much into making healthier choices as much as possible, and it never fails to satisfy our cravings...
