This one star is more than I think this place should receive. My special sea bass with crushed new pots and roasted toms was offered with mash or chips because they didn't have new pots ! What ... this is a special on your board. My meal arrived but not my husband's minute steak .... Oh sorry sir, 2 minutes ( they'd forgotten it !) It arrived 10 mins after my dish. My fish and chips was so drenched in salt, dry and over cooked ... inedible !! My husband had to wait a further 10 mins for the pepper sauce he'd ordered. Meanwhile i returned my fish saying it was not edible, oh profuse apologies but no offer of another meal. I was left with no food at all. Again profuse apologies and promises of no charge, but, hey, i had not eaten anything. One embarrased bar man. One hungry me. I should have complained further. Not even an offer of a free drink. Six of us went there yesterday for lunch. The food was substandard and not very good. Things that should have been hot were cold and things that should have been cold were served on a warm plate or the wrong food was presented. We waited for over an hour for basic stuff and although were were able to negotiate what we paid for, the staff in the pub were badly let down by very poor service from the kitchen. Popped In for lunch as a treat with my mother who’s in her 80s, read the menu online, it looked tempting. The place was almost deserted. Soon found out why, no heating, it was freezing. Frail mother and partner didn’t remove coats at all. Our sandwiches took an inordinate amount of time to arrive and didn't match what we’d expected from the pictures online.
