A very highly rated place and for good reason judging by our visit. We were fortunate to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary here. If it hadn't had fell on a midweek day then I feel we wouldn't have got in. It's an unpretentious dining room and the atmosphere was very relaxed. The menu is a bit limited and any fussy eater like me may want to phone ahead to check what's on offer. We had fillet steaks and they were excellent, together with a nice selection of vegetables. Note these are included in the price and they can do a bit of "mix and match" across the menu. The desserts were simply sublime. I booked this restaurant for our 17th wedding anniversary after reading amazing reviews. We were so disappointed. Food was good but not amazing and scallops were sparse. But the wait!!! Between sitting down and our main being served was over 90 minutes. We brought out kids. They were so hungry. After 45 minutes the waitress came and asked what we ordered again! A good 15 mins walk up from Torquay harbour - enough to give us an appetite for the superb food that was served up to us in this lovely little restaurant. The Austrian theme is nicely carried through into the menu and the wine selection, so we opted for Wiener schnitzel and Austrian wine. Didn't have dessert but from the expression on faces of neighbouring tables I think we missed a real treat! Would be 5 stars if service had been bit more personal.
