We booked a table for 2pm for afternoon tea, we were greeted at the top of the stairs by a young lady, I stated my name, she responded that we had booked for afternoon tea, which I confirmed was correct, the young lady then walked towards a table picked up some menus, and walked into the main room.she placed the menus on the table & left us.

I went to sit on a chair, but it was very rickety, so I was concerned that I would break, so I swapped over with another chair.

My husband picked up the larger of the two menus, & got his hand covered in cake, the menus were one sheet of paper held within a laminated sheet, it was also covered in pen, my menus were not much better, as they & the table were covered in salt & pepper.

We had not been here before, & the menu was very misleading, we did not know how to order the afternoon tea, when the young lady came back to take the order, she was not very helpful, we decided to leave the establishment as we felt it was uncared for, dirty & really uninviting!

We were really hoping for a lovely afternoon tea experience having a lovely view of Rochester cathedral, however this was not to be which has spoiled my birthday!

We will not be recommending this...

We recently held a private retirement party for a group of 16 people, and the afternoon tea experience exceeded all expectations. The venue allowed us to hire a room exclusively for our group, which created a relaxed and intimate atmosphere perfect for the occasion.

The service was outstanding from start to finish. Staff were attentive, courteous, and genuinely accommodating—nothing was too much trouble. We were given full flexibility to arrange the tables to suit our preferences, which helped create a personal and comfortable setting.

The afternoon tea itself was beautifully presented and thoroughly enjoyed by all. The sandwiches were freshly made, and special dietary requirements, including gluten-free and dairy-free options, were thoughtfully catered for without any fuss. The scones and cakes were delicious, and there was plenty to go around.

It was a truly memorable afternoon, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this venue for a private event. Excellent service, quality food, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere made it a...

Really disappointed. A nice place and friendly staff But what they offer vegetarians is really poor value. Shows they have just tacked on a vegetarian option without really considering. Their Full English Breakast as a Meat version and a Veggie version are both £7.50 which would be fine if they gave the veggie option the same value as the meat one. However all ingredients are the same in both with the exception that meat eaters get 2 rashers of bacon and a sausage while the veggie option just replaces these with a single quorn sausage. So meat eaters get much better option and veggies lose out ! Effectively the veggies are subsidising the meat eaters. So many other places provide a decent option but clearly this place is living in the last century still. As our friends are a mix of meat eaters and veggies we just could never come here together. Such a disappointment. Otherwise would have liked to write a...

We popped in for hot chocolate. It was late in the day and they were close to closing but still welcomed us. If you're going to have hot chocolate, have the posh one ( see photos ) it tastes as good as it looks. I also had a slice of coffee cake, delish! They do afternoon teas and after this little sample , that is definitely on the cards. The staff were all polite, smart and efficient. The venue is upstairs so has a narrow entrance, find the bright pink sweet shop in the high street turn around and you'll see the entrance.

A lovely place on the first floor. Extremely friendly staff and a great selection of food. We came for some Afternoon Tea : the homemade sandwiches were absolutely delicious, the scones were perfect and the cakes were maybe a little too much by the end but nonetheless great. If one thing could be improved it's the choice of drinks with the afternoon tea (only one type of coffee or tea) but that's only a small note. Would recommend without doubt!

This was delightful! Hidden away above the shops is a quaint little café that boasts traditional English food and quality service. Just perfect for a cold winter’s day - warmed by a hot cup of tea, delicious tuna melt and cake. I can thoroughly recommend this place, even if you have to wait on the stairs - it’s worth it. I shall definitely be returning!
