Pepe's — Restaurant in England

The food arrived late and cold, the loaded chips I ordered had basically congealed into a solid unappetising block. My main issue was that I was hit by an extra delivery charge over what was shown on Just Eat. About 40 mins after ordering I got a phone call saying I owed them an extra £5 because I was outside of their 3 mile delivery area. Fair enough but Just Eat lets you assign different charges depending on how far it is so this just felt like a secret tax. I paid it because it was late, I was hungry and I had no idea if I would have been able to get a refund as the person on the phone didn't seem interested in answering my questions. My advice would be to avoid.

Edit: The response below is pointless. The app didn't demand extra money from me at the last moment, the store did! This is a store issue and not an app issue. They are definitely earning the 1 star...

One of the worst delivery experiences I’ve ever had. I ordered food from Pepe’s through Deliveroo and the delivery took 1 hour and 35 minutes. That’s ridiculous. No update, no apology, no explanation — just silence. If a restaurant can’t handle orders, they should stop accepting them instead of wasting customers’ time.

What made it worse was Deliveroo’s useless customer support. I tried to cancel the order after waiting so long, and they did absolutely nothing. Just copy-paste replies and no actual help. It’s honestly embarrassing how both the restaurant and the app handled this.

Pepe’s clearly doesn’t care about customers, their time, or their experience. They are quick to take money but slow to provide even basic service. Completely disappointing and disrespectful. Never ordering again and would strongly warn others before wasting their time...

Good food however the wait was ridiculous for 2 small meals - over 40 minutes in an empty restaurant, with people getting their food before me that had ordered after me! Not impressed. Employees barely speak English so very high chance of miscommunication and a wrong order isn't a rare occurrence. For the veggies that care - their menu states their veggie items are cooked/prepped alongside their chicken and meat products so no guarantee of cross contamination free food. If vegan or vegetarian maybe steer clear.

Atmosphere is non existent, there is no music playing so all you get to hear is the chefs speaking other languages in the back and the screams of your own mind because you’ve been waiting for nearly an hour for a quesadilla meal and a piece of plain chicken.
