I went here for my birthday meal, which my wife noted when booking. We ordered a Buddha bowl, a birra and a loaded fries. The loaded fries is sold as a main meal under their Hearty section of the menu. We expected a seriously loaded fries for £10.50 (when a portion of fries is £3.50 - so we thought there would be £7 of toppings). The amount of actual meat on the fries would have been easily held on a soup spoon. As I believe every venue should have a chance to redeem themselves i mentioned this to the waitress when she dropped off the rest of the food. She took the meal away, apparently spoke with the owner of the venue and brought it back unchanged with the comment that pork is expensive so that's what we are getting. To mollify us they gave us a portion of fries, however that wasn't what we had asked to be sorted so it was a wasted gesture. The owner did not come out and apologise or discuss the issue, I was not asked if I would like to change my meal, and no discounts were offered. I do not accept that the price of pork is such that they need £7 to pay for a soup spoon of pulled pork. Very poorly handled when simply chucking a bit more pork on the meal would have nullified the issue immediately.

Looking through all the reviews you'd think this was amazing, but sadly not for me - clearly I'm not the right sort of 'Hipster' that will enjoy this place's quirkiness. If you're looking for a classic Full English - then this is not for you either. The coffee that other reviewers described as the best in Hereford, came with an egg-timer to know when it was ready, but despite waiting for the timer to run through a couple of times was still weak, and that watery brown colour, not black. When mentioned we were told that it was measured out, which made us feel that the problem was with us, and not the coffee - although to be fair we were offered another. The food that we ordered was good though - but the issue was the choice - very artisan, if you're into that sort of thing - sauteed Kale etc... but I was after something more substantial. Also, no ketchup or brown sauces... which kinda tells you what sort of place it is. I really should have checked out the menu before popping in on-spec, and sadly for me it was a case of Emperors New Clothes....

My friend booked a table for my birthday celebration, we were a party of 7 in total and we all had an absolutely fabulous time. The service was great- polite and attentive staff. I don't think there was ever a time we had to get anyone's attention to ask for more drinks- the staff made sure we were checked on and had everything we needed but also we didn't feel interrupted or pestered. The food was top notch- we've had the tapas and every single dish I tried was delightful. Fresh, flavoursome and imaginative dishes, you can really tell that a great amount of work and pride goes into their creation. Not to mention the delicious array of cocktails. The atmosphere is very pleasant and warm- a rustic sort of vibe with plenty of greenery and warm light which provides cosy yet contemporary vibe. Thank you to all the staff at Sensory and Rye for making it a very special evening- will most definitely be returning.

went for breakfast as a treat whilst on maternity, the turkish eggs have always been my favourite here so couldn’t wait to have them again, first of all service quite slow and took explaining 4 times what drink we wanted as waiter didn’t get it, disappointed to see they’ve got rid of the menu that had iced drinks and coffees on as now iced coffees aren’t listed on the menu at all, food arrived, turkish eggs immediately looked different to how it used to be, cut both poached eggs and they both burst open with water and raw egg white which was disgusting, took it over to a waiter he told me to sit down and he will send the manager, manager came and nicely agreed to swap it, however this then meant I was waiting a while and my family had to finish theirs, by the time mine arrived I was eating on my own, it was nice however it used to be miles better and bigger, you used to get a whole flat bread and was actually a dish of substance rather than a bowl of yogurt. Was left feeling annoyed at what happened and also hungry! Bill came and would’ve been a nice gesture to offer some sort of discount for what had happened but no the bill was £50 for 3 drinks and 3 breakfasts which one was raw and sent back, and still had to add a tip. The reviews for this place keep getting worse and worse and I thought i’d give it the benefit of the doubt and I most likely won’t come back again as it’s...

We are frequent eaters at S&R and have made it our go-to place to eat in Hereford. Generally very happy with the service, food is amazing and the vibe is just perfect. However, my wife has been recently diagnosed with cancer which has resulted in an overhaul of her diet. No sugar and gluten more specifically. For her to enjoy a meal out she has to be “that person” and ask for a detailed list of what the item she wishes to order contains. She was met with resistance from the staff, not willing to show her a consolidated list of the food contents as it’s was “against policy”. We aren’t familiar with the food policies and the rights that establishments have when releasing this information. However, this incident ruined my wife’s experience there, meaning she was unable to order and had to leave. This is unacceptable, it’s not like we were trying to steal recipes or anything untoward. Simply my wife trying to order the right option from the menu to suit her needs and enjoy a meal with her daughter during a rough time. Frankly, I am very disappointed with the reaction of the staff, making it very clear that her request was bother to them. We are sad that this happened and have decided that eating here is no longer an option. Many restaurants have been accommodating, but S&R have not. This is a shame as we do enjoy...

Went to Sensory and Rye for breakfast this morning, and I’ve been a few times and the service has been slower than usual, with drinks arriving around half an hour after we’ve been seated. It was really busy, and they only had one person on the floor and one person making drinks, which is why it was slower than usual.

We sat on a table opposite where the ladies were cooking, table ‘2’ I believe the lady at the tills said. I’ve ordered halloumi and avocado on sourdough, and I requested to have it without the egg that it comes with. I was sat facing the ladies that were preparing the food, and noticed a girl put out the dish that I thought was mine on the side with a ticket, but I’ve noticed it had the egg on so didn’t think much of it until I saw her taking the plate off the food pass, removing the egg facing away from the customers, and then putting it back, ready for the waiter to pick it up…

From working in restaurants myself in the past, I know how serious that could have been if I had been allergic to eggs. The girl that had removed the egg was a brown haired girl with a bun, and the dish should have been re made incase I was allergic to the egg or at least they could I’ve asked if i had any allergies. But instead she chose to remove it, as re making the dish would have caused her too much...
