We visited here with our family (4 adults, 5 children) on Tuesday last week. The food was good, the only reason I’ve rated it three was because the salt and paper squid was tasteless, however, we were happy with everything else.
The reason I’ve rated our overall experience a 1 star is due to the service. We had one lady in particular (blonde hair), who was miserable and really rude to my Uncle. We had five kids with us, we just kept getting funny looks off this waitress (not sure of her name), huffing when we asked any questions or requested anything from her.
I requested the bill, the waitress just brought the card machine over. When I asked for the receipt/bill she said she ‘doesn’t have one’. When I told her that I needed it, she said she can’t get one. Anyway, we ended up paying it (£175). I was happy about this as the kitchen accidentally brought out two of our plates twice so I was concerned this had been added to our bill. As soon as we paid, the waitress turned round to my Uncle on the table opposite and told him to keep his son quiet (he’s two years old). Why wait until we’ve paid to be rude to us?! He said, he’s literally a child, they can be loud, especially when the overall atmosphere is loud which it was. She walked off, we got our things together, to which my Uncle then went over to the bar to ask for a manager as he was really annoyed at her comment. He explained what she’d said to him and the other staff were embarrassed by her comments. Unfortunately the manager wasn’t there.. the waitress then came in and began to say that we should have kept him quiet because there’s other people in the restaurant. Never in my 9 years of being a parent, have I ever been told to keep my child quiet!! So rude and unprofessional. She had a terrible attitude and completely ruined our experience. She was very argumentative as well. The other staff came out after us and apologised because they were embarrassed by her comments and behaviour and said they would be reporting it to their manager the following day.
I hope they did report her to the manager and she is dealt with. Not someone who should be working in a restaurant if you can’t be nice to people or treat their children respectfully. Due to this we definitely wouldn’t return and would advise anyone with young children not to visit either, unless you want to be made to feel bad and uncomfortable for having a child, who is simply...
Read moreWe (tried) to visit this restaurant twice. The food was lovely the first time, the waitress was attentive. Sadly she left for the day before we could pay and the manager then took over our care. It was going well until someone from “head office” came in. We were completely ignored. They stood right next to us with the manager chatting like a sycophant to the other man, the other man was clearly enjoying it and let him carry on despite my clear desperation to pay the bill. By now my arm was getting tired of waving about, we were the only people in the restaurant yet they walked right past us. It would have been comical if it hadn’t gone on so long. The next day it was just myself and my partner, who hadn’t been with us the day before. I assumed that the walking distraction, aka “head office” Man, had gone so was looking forward to the experience we had before he turned up the day before. We stepped into the restaurant, and I was so please that it was again totally empty (everyone preferred sitting outside). I requested a table by the window of which there were two or three. I can’t remember now. What I do remember is the wait staff relegating us to a table with no view in front of a column as there were only two of us. She refused to let us sit where we wanted to. My husband and I had planned on having lunch and drinks and meeting the rest of our family there for further nibbles in about an hour…but that never happened as we were so put off we simply left. We ended up going to Silco Bar and Kitchen just a few doors down. It was incredible. Go there. The staff were ace and the food was inventive...
Read moreFood was tasty... And that is where all positive sides end. For this I give one additional star. Service was terrible. When we came we asked how long roughly we would need to wait for table outside. The lady said, instead of keeping a queue for customers, that when we catch it we will have it. Well... We managed to find one table, which was dirty from whole day of customers and birds poo. We kindly asked waitress to clean the table for us. She seemed very unhappy about it. I attach photo how the table looked AFTER cleaning by her. We ordered 1 beer, water and two portions of mussels. The beer we got pretty quickly. We didn't get the water. Then we got one portion of mussels. We had to wait another at least 10 mins for second portion, so to be able to have dinner together with my husband, one person had to eat cold. Before getting the second portion we had to chase them twice, and when i was calling waitess she didn't give a chance to even ask again for water i didn't get. So i got it after both portions of mussels were delivered. Obviously we didn't want to pay service charge for such poor service, and the waitress answered with rude tone of voice to us 'it is very low amount for her, so not a problem'. The worst service in the restaurant...
