Stiles Coffee Bar — Restaurant in England

Myself, 2 sisters and husbands were welcomed in and offered a table by a lovely smiling girl behind the counter, who said said they will clean the table for us. It was already clear but just had a little spillage on it, we stood and waited as they were busy. My brother in law noticed a cloth and spray on a shelf nearby and said, "no worries, I will wipe it, we don't mind, as he started to wipe it a very angry looking girl came over, snatched the cloth off him and he said "it's ok" and she said nastily "it's really not" and aggresively wiped it herself. I really thought she was joking at first until she scowled and rolled her eyes. Another customer said hello to her and asked if she was good and she spouted out, moodily, "yeah, loving life, living dream" or something, while stroppily walking off. I've never felt so uncomfortable in a cafe /restaurant anywhere. The same girl came and took our order, we didn't order anything awkward, ordered teas and coffees. The only different thing was, my husband asked if he could have decaf tea as he can't have caffeine. When she brought our drinks and slammed them all down she mentioned bringing a cafetier, we explained that nobody had ordered that just decaf tea that was different. She then rolled her eyes and stormed off. Two of our orders were wrong but we decided to only mention one of them as it was a nice guy who brought that and he was very polite. I would never revisit the place again, we are always polite and never complain when eating out. We eat out often and have never, ever given a bad review. Don’t order nachos and cheese maybe half a slice of cheese melted on it. Glad I only ordered a soup. Complete rip off of a place. Happerly spoke to manager about the prices vs quality.

Thanks for your reply. I personally was very disappointed because we were very hungry. I think as a basic cafe fine but prices were still very expensive for what you got.

I guess it’s more of a 2-9 year old place to it than a pair of adults. Was our fault for not fully looking.

Other than apologising to us there’s nothing else really that is needed.

Again we just would appreciate better food for prices like that. Hence we gave a 1 star.

We have enjoyed our stay camping here and we will be back just not to this cafe :)

I’ll also add that criticism is a good thing. And especially honest ones. My partner doesn’t like me complaining when food is sub standard. However when I’m paying for it then it’s a different matter.

Also nachos and cheese should come with everything but you have a cheek to charge £1.50 for the dips to go with it. Shocking ! Hence 1 star.
