So disappointing. We wanted to take my 88 year old mother out for lunch. Only 3 of us to serve and we all ordered a cold dish. Told 20 minute wait for service, fine agreed to that. Ham hock arrived for my husband, nothing else. 5 minutes later one bowl of prawns arrived. So we waited and waited for the second bowl of prawns to arrive...nothing. 10 minutes later.... Tried to find a waitress. Busy waitress said she would find out..... So after another long wait an identical plate of prawns arrived. Lots of apologies. If this had been a hot meal it would have been a disaster as we would have had to have started to eat before either my mother or myself would have been served. Then to find it was totally tasteless, was it seafood?????Prawns, scraggy bit of lettuce and slice of bread, awful for the price and awful for a chef to send out. Sorry, this is a total embarrassment you should try to rectify ASAP. I worked at the Cathedral school for many years and always recommend you to parents, visitors, performers to...

I would give 0 stars if I could, honestly. Absolutely abysmal visit! For a table of 7 of us, our food came out at such different times that some of us had finished before others even got theirs. The poppadom with the curry was so unbelievably greasy it was quite literally dripping. 2 curries were ordered and one was half the size of the other as they were in completely different sized bowls. My cousin had avocado toast and specifically said no seeds as she is allergic, to then be given her food with seeds hidden under the tomatoes?! Food was sent back and then returned with no seeds but raw instead of grilled tomato. My sourdough toast was forgotten and when asked they just said “oh, do you still want it then?” And then when it was finally brought out it was just dropped onto the table by a waitress with such a vile attitude. Disgusting place that can’t even make a good hot chocolate and will make you wait 40 minutes or more for your meal - will never set foot through the...

Definitely over promoting the award they won in 2021 as it certainly wasn't award winning on my visit today. Had high expectations and the menu sounded delicious but was very disappointing, food was subpar and overpriced for what you get. I ordered the avocado on toast and my friend ordered the vegan breakfast. They were the same price but felt very disproportionate in value as the avocado on toast was £13.95 for one slice of toast, overcooked poached eggs, and the vegan breakfast had more avocado than I did on my toast. Was a bit something of nothing to be honest and was still hungry after. The vegan breakfast was a much better portion size however the onion bhaji was so burnt to the crisp it was unedible and the crispy kale my friend was looking forward too, was substituted with baked beans without anyone saying it would be. Would have been satisfied and a lot cheaper to go with one of their ready made sandwiches. Or even better, go into town for something tastier and...

Unfortunately I have to amend my experience from lovely to now rather disappointing. The menu update is a bad move in my opinion. Ordered food from the childrens menu for my daughters, a bit fussy for younger eaters, pepper on the eggs and sour dough toast with no butter, a bit too crunchy and hard. All day breakfast, boxed up pre made sandwiches, very expensive cake. What happened to the locally sourced pasties, menu with vegetables in season and great selection of Gluten Free options? Now just a big overpriced fry up. I don't think the new chef/manager is targeting the Bishop's Palace visitors, menu more suited for the high street/pub. Most of the customers I saw on my last few visits looked disgruntled with the changes and all mostly sat with cake and a drink. Food all a bit heavy and greasy, overpriced, not the lovely homemade food we have enjoyed over the last 8 years. I wouldn't recommend any dishes on the menu. Probably just stop here for a cuppa and that's it. Sorry.

Very poor service and quality of staff. Tables left unclean for a very long time, resulting in customers bringing dirty crockery inside to be able to sit at a table. Ordering a single takeaway coffee took 15+ minutes to be made as there’s no ability to quickly prioritise a single person waiting for a takeaway coffee over tables with 4+ drinks. Zero supervision of 5-6 young staff with the job title of ‘Food & beverage assistant’. Not sure whom they’re assisting; perhaps, each other? Clearly no barista training whatsoever. I know we, Brits, have incredibly low standards but even so this place sets a new low. I’ve never seen so many staff in one establishment and it resulting in such poor service. Some seemed genuinely friendly and attentive but some seemed like they didn’t want to be there! (How can we drag the time out by pretending to clean a table and ignore the ones with piles of crockery on) I was their age once but you need management to keep the standards up!

Lab food, juice concentrate (not fresh) kind of place. I ordered the Vegetarian burger. Turns out it apparently was but tasted exactly like meat?... I wanted it to taste like a vegetable patty, thats why I don't eat meat, cos I don't like the taste or texture. I tried to eat it but it was foul and couldn't. I queried it politely and was told its a new brand. It must have been made in lab or was meat as my body nearly threw up. I thought having the soup instead was a fair compromise but they didn't care and wanted me to pay again. It's not right cos I still feel physically sick an hour later and I don't see the point of keeping people's money and disregarding customer preferences or health. It's not clever and clearly left me disappointed. Views are lovely but I wouldn't go back to that cafe place again.
