We booked for Mother's Day, and unfortunately didn't have that good of an experience; We were told over the phone that a window seat would be reserved for us, as my mother has recently had an operation and has a cane so needs to be out of the way. This didn't happen unfortunately, even though a party of 3 were seated there during our meal (one was a child, but there would still have been 3 place settings on that table). There was also another booth/window seat we could have swapped to, but we were seated on a 4 person table and told "once all the veg comes out you'll need the room" - Which is fair enough if that was the case. (The booth table was also moved onto the end of another table to make it longer, so it definitely wasn't booked for when we were there). When the food did arrive, there was one small plate of veg to share; one piece of broccoli and cauliflower each, a couple baby carrots and 1-2 new potatoes each. So what the server said, did confuse us. The food was also sadly an uneven temperature/cold. The roast potatoes were the only hot things on the plate and the rest was cold by the time it got to the table. We did mention this eventually as it had tainted the meal, but mainly because we wanted to inform them just incase it was an issue the kitchen were unaware of. The food overall was okay, but wasn't as tasty as we expected after reading the positive reviews online. We did eat our meals as we didn't want to waste any food and back up the kitchen with having to re-make it all. The beef was cooked well, the wine was great, the atmosphere and decor was lovely, the puddings were decent and the service we received was amazing, but unfortunately the other issues did really taint our experience overall. I don't like leaving this sort of review unless necessary, but we did expect better from somewhere where you have to leave a deposit to book and from all the reviews we got really excited. We rated 3 stars - 2 for the food and the extra for the great service.

*I do want to say sorry to the manager/owner who was behind the bar as he looked quite stressed already bless him! He seemed to give us a discount, so we are very appreciative of that. We would like to come again, but maybe when it's not a special occasion as I'm assuming the issues were due to it being booked out for mother's day. Again, we can't fault the wonderful service,...

After arriving in Ludlow on Saturday, we popped in for breakfast and ordered poached eggs on toast for two and fried eggs and bacon for one. Also, because we don't like our tea too strong, tea for the three of us with an extra pot of hot water. We were so disappointed when our poached eggs arrived, they were so hard and to make it even worse, the brown toast was dry, not a butter pat to be seen!! :( The food was completely tasteless, we should have complained but...then, to top it all, when I later checked the receipt, I found we were charged £2 for hot water! One more thing for anyone who is considering visiting and is unfortunately disabled so find it difficult to climb stairs, they don't have toilet facilities on the ground floor, the only toilets were at at the top of the stairs, so no, we definitely won't...

My wife and I have been to the Friday Fish Menu Dinner twice. What a lovely place. The Starters are well prepared - tempura prawns in a crisp batter and hot dip sauce and the fishcake with a poached egg on top really stood out from the menu selection we enjoyed. The Mains included Cornish Hake, which was excellent and you can have a selection of 3 different fish for a £3 supplement, which was very reasonable. Each main comes with a selection of side dishes and a range of sauces to suit your fish. The home cooked chips were great!

They also have home prepared desserts including a wild berry crumble. Yum!

Wine list was limited, but the wines we have chosen so far were complementary to our meals.

The whole menu was without the usual, easy kitchen compromises and this makes the Corner House stand out in a very...

Excellent fish night in late February 2025. Small but well thought out fish menu. Fairly priced with tempting starters and good choice of fish. Prawns in tempura style batter were crisp and well flavoured. My main trio of Cornish hake, bream and haddock with the famous creamy sauce with grapes was rather good. Nicely presented and fresh quality white fish. Vegetables and potatoes came in small dishes and we're quite acceptable. Quality ice cream to finish. All 5 of us enjoyed our meal. Well priced small choice of reasonable wines. Underrated restaurant. The breakfast I had a few weeks previously was also excellent.

We came here for a late breakfast whilst staying in the town and glad we did. We were looking for a full English to see us through until supper time and our choice didn't disappoint. The staff were very friendly, we were seated quickly and our order taken promptly but then it was a quiet Tuesday morning. They were happy for us to swap breakfast items around so instead of black pudding I ordered an extra rasher of bacon. The good quality food was cooked perfectly, freshly to order and piping hot. We feel the price is good value and so highly recommend.

We stopped here for breakfast on our way home from holiday. It was OK. We sat outside as we had our dog with us, so I can't comment on what the overall ambience inside is like. Wheelchair accessibility was certainly tricky though. I had a vegan version of the vegetarian breakfast (there was no advertised vegan option). I was confused by the inclusion of boiled waxy potatoes and tbh it felt very low effort. No vegan spread for the toast, even! My husband had the sizzle, and it was decent, he really enjoyed the sausages especially.
