AVOID! I have never experienced such rude staff! Walked up the path and stood outside of the café door waiting for my wife before heading in for coffee and a snack when this member of staff marched up to me and demanded rudely, "can I help you?". I answered no thanks, and that i was waiting for my wife. His reply startled me........"well you can't wait here, it's private property!". I looked around and saw there was nobody else there. I simply pointed out that they might want to alter their approach as people clearly had to pass over their "private property" in order to get to the café door. The fact the everyone else was avoiding it told me I wasn't the first to encounter such rudeness....and I can see there are other reviews stating such. TOP TIP: go to Apple Pie Café & Bakery....far, far better! Great staff, great coffee, great freshly made snacks & pies!

A lovely little café, there were plenty of seating options (outside in the shade or not, or a quieter corner table inside or larger low table. Staff were excellent and very welcoming, would have loved to have had a cake as they looked fantastic but we were still full from our lunches earlier! They also have a dog wall of fame, absolutely wonderful (see photo!)

Worth a visit for cream tea when in Ambleside. It's right next to a bubbling brook, and has a water mill (it was being repaired when I visited). Service was friendly and quick, and there's a great selection of cakes. It's got a casual but cosy atmosphere, and feels like a really relaxed place. It has Destin outside for the warmer months too.

It's a shame you can't give 0 stars! Awful place with awful service. Ordered a tuna sandwich and pancakes, I asked about whether food would be in touch with pork/ham they told me it was a small kitchen to which I said ok but can you make sure you change your gloves to which they said no!

It's common practice to change gloves after every prep. I feel sorry for vegetarians and vegans who by the looks of previous reviews have had similar issues.

Rubbish place and much better options available, copper pot, apple pie bakery (across the road) plus numerous cafes all within a 2 min walk from this...

No one is giggling at this giggling goose!!! I would leave no stars if I could! I went in here on Monday, my family actually took a photograph from a distance, as they thought we would be having a nice time. Ambleside has been one of our favourite places for many years. However we received the most unfriendly, unwelcoming, unprofessional service! We had a forty minute wait for pizza and chips. I accidentally knocked my drink over, which a member of staff noticed, glared and then ignored, rather than coming over to clean the table or offer a replacement. Would definitely...
