Came here for brunch on a Sunday morning as very few alternatives available. Opened sharply at 11am, as advertised, with mainly panini options. Food was fine, although nothing special. Service was friendly, but not very professional. (If someone serves you coffee but slops the top part into your saucer as they put it down, you expect at least an acknowledgement, if not an apology.) The place filled up rapidly after opening, so maybe others’ experiences were better? Nothing wrong with the place but an average 3-star review.

Ordered a hot drink and Scone with butter and jam, service was quite slow 20+ minutes for a hot drink and scone I think is a long wait esp when there were only 4 other customers in the cafe already with their orders served to them....long wait aside what was more worrying was the Frozen Stone cold scone that was served to me......Replacement was warm but the familiar "Ding" sound of a microwave 20 seconds before it was served to me wasn't a pleasant sound to hear. I don't know how they managed a 4* rating.

Lovely little café that gets busy. Goats cheese and caramelised onion quiche was super tasty, the lentil and tomato soup the same. Paninis fresh and well filled. All in all a very pleasant experience.

I wanted so much for this to be a glowing review. We always prefer to try an independent as opposed to a chain. We went there on Friday 3rd January.

My filter coffee came with no milk. It doesn't say on the menu by the door it's black. You can have a filter coffee with milk, so ask the customer if you want milk (also if you do that, heat the milk up, as nothing worse than putting cold milk in and then having a lukewarm coffee). Anyway, we ordered a cheese and ham toasty and a coronation chicken wrap. We waited over half an hour. It wasn't busy but the staff had forgotten about us. We overheard the conversation saying so. I'd literally just got up to ask at the same time they came over.

To be fair my toastie was fine (hence 3 stars), but the wrap was awful. Badly wrapped, tasteless and waaaay too much mayonnaise. So the first few bites are just mayo and wrap. We opened it up to have look and it was just bland. This was not coronation sauce but chicken doused in mayo.

We did mention both the lateness and the wrap at payment time. We should have said something earlier but we'd just get another bland wrap back or wait 30 minutes for a toastie.

There's a reason why chains do well, and that's training, standards and procedures. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any here. A real shame but if small independents are going to do well in this economic climate, they really need to invest in staff training. Go to a competitor that does well and see how they do it. Or even get wrap from a supermarket and compare to what you do...

Dog friendly and tasty looking light lunch menu enticed me in. Ordered quiche & salad and almond milk hot chocolate. Slow to get drink as young girl thought the boy asking her to make it was asking for himself not a customer order , which was odd given they are running a cafe. Drink arrived eventually but did not taste like it had been made with almond milk. Quiche had a raw pastry bottom. Whilst I was In the cafe the team of 4 staff were very chatty amongst themselves about non cafe topics which was easy to hear as the kitchen/dining area is open plan. Moreattention to service is needed from this team. Went to pay and I asked about the milk used for my drink as I had left it undrinkable. No apology offered just insistence correct milk had been used as the drink served to me was quite watery which apparently is a characteristic of almond milk!! Charged full price for leaving a full drink. Again better customer service needed. I am not local but left Ginger Cafe and saw 3 chain coffee houses in close proximity - bought an almond milk hot choc takeaway where service and price was much better than local independent. That saddens me as I much prefer to support independents. Come on Ginger Nut get your...

6 of us ate here today with our Dog. The 3 very young staff were very lovely and polite. But unfortunately the owner had left them in lurch, at 12 noon they had run out of, Bacon, Ham, Panini’s and even their order book! 8 people walked out while we were waiting. So sad to see these 3 young staff keep apologising to customers, they all looked so stressed and as a Boss of my own business I would never let this happen. 10 Stars to the 3 staff and 0 to the owners!! I even bought them a new pad from Smiths so they could at least take...
