Food

The gluten free fish & chips were delicious! Being able to have gluten free food, cooked in separate fryers, is so nice to be able to get.

Many places say they do gluten free food, but then cook them in general fryers, with non-gluten free food; being a Coeliac, this means I can’t eat any of it, due to cross-contamination.

However, The Glass Box has a separate fryer, and the food was cooked perfectly.

I was going to have a coffee, however they come from a tea/coffee machine, so rather than risk it, we went for diet cola.

Service

The young man who served us was very polite, and friendly, even asking if we were sure about leaving a tip, when my Mum went to do so.

The food came fairly quickly, and was hot and nicely plated.

There was another member of staff working there, who seemed a little grumpy/wasn’t really talking to people, but she may have been tired.

Atmosphere

The Glass Box is on Clevedon Pier, which means you have a nice view, if facing towards the water. It is narrow, and with the only toilets down a spiral staircase within the building, people do pass by you on a regular basis.

The door was open, which went it was rather breezy, however I like being cool and would rather it was cool than hot.

As it is narrow, you do hear other people chatting/their children causing a noise; this is unavoidable, and is fine, as kids make noise! 😂😄

Final Thoughts

Lovely food, in a lovely location; when busy you might struggle to get a table, as it isn’t big, but as a Coeliac, on a quieter day, well worth it!

P.S. The Pier is awesome! They have changed the pricing structure, so now it is ÂŁ6 for year long...

Popped in for a quick cuppa with 2 friends after an early morning run, as we discovered it was free to go in before 10am. (Normally have to pay to access pier) Tea/coffee was served in glass mugs which is a personal pet hate, and the coffee was not that good. We were told by a different member of staff to the one who served us that "whilst they'd love to see us again" they were only open for breakfasts at that time. There was no signage to this effect, and had we been told this at the till, we would have either ordered food, or gone elsewhere. (Tiffins across the road serve much better drinks in a friendlier atmosphere!) I don't feel there is any need to make customers feel uncomfortable in this way. Two stars only given as I liked the glass roof to the cafe and our original server was good at sorting out my drink when they didn't have the...

The staff went above and beyond for my mum and dad’s Anniversary. Fish and chips and mushy peas. Lovely and hot and fresh tasty and plentiful seeing as we had to change our booking to takeaway last minute! Greeted with a smile the staff were very welcoming and helpful. My mum and dad absolutely loved their meal and it made their day which I was very grateful for as they had been having a traumatic few weeks with my dad being poorly. So thanks to ‘The Glass Box’. We have eaten here since and again were greeted with a warm friendly welcome. Nothing is too much trouble! We had Brie and Cranberry toasties. Beautifully prepared and perfect portion size we will be visiting this place again in...

I was on my own and having never visited before, I entered via the spiral staircase at the top level, not knowing there was a level entrance below! You order and pay at the till. I luckily had a seat indoors, by the entrance, at a table for 2, facing the pier. Best seat in the house in my opinion, especially if on your own. as what a view! The service and food was outstanding, generous portions, and delicious coffee. The waiting staff checked that everything was OK with my meal. I had no complaints at all. It did become very busy and by the time I left every table was taken. I'm glad I arrived relatively early. (12.15ish) I have recommended it to friends and family if they are in the area.
