I wouldnât have left a review if the issues were rectified how they should have been, as I understand this restaurant has just opened but it was an awful experience.
We went in because the menu had a plant based burger on it, I asked if it was vegan before ordering and was assured it was. After an hour and a half wait for food, and an attempt at an apology which was really just being defensive over the fact that theyâve only been open 3 weeks (we werenât even angry about the wait just hungry), a halloumi burger was brought out to me. Again I wasnât angry, but I canât eat dairy and said as much, but apparently the restaurant doesnât sell anything vegan. I donât expect everywhere to accommodate my diet, but I do expect you to have a vegan option if itâs printed on your menu and I double checked before ordering.
Honestly I wouldnât have left a review if you had said for my friend to not worry about paying as he waited so long, then felt bad eating in front of me when I didnât get any dinner. He shouldnât have had to pay for his meal, and I certainly shouldnât have had to pay for my drink. If a restaurant gets an order so wrong that a guest leaves without having eaten anything, the normal way to rectify this would be to say to us not to worry about our bill at all, or at the very least take the drinks off.
I know being vegan is a choice, but I havenât ever eaten meat since I was raised vegetarian and dairy makes me ill. Donât include a vegan option if you donât even know what vegan is, the chef seemed shocked when I said vegan means no milk. He replied âyes but this is goats milkâ. Just overall rude, defensive, slow and clueless on how to run a business. I donât even normally leave reviews but this was a...
Read moreJust visited Le French Corner with two friends for dinner and had a really lovely time.
Food didnât come out straight away - but this is not a âfast foodâ restaurant, we were glad that the chef had taken the time to cook it properly! And everything that came was as described & delicious! We were all hoping to have one of the many sweet options available but were so full we couldnât!
Wine was very well priced & there was good choice, would recommend the Cote du Rhone (probably spelt wrong but fruity and full bodied).
Service was slow but there were two waiting staff and the chef so this was expected when we arrived. Having all worked in hospitality we know a new opening would be busy & all staff were eager to please so we were happy to wait.
Others in the restaurant were being difficult and quite frankly rude to the staff which we felt was dealt with well.
Overall we had a great experience and I would definitely go again. Food was tasty, staff were helpful and polite especially considering they were a staff...
Read moreBeen to French Corner today for lunch. Although we were the first people in there the atmosphere was great as it quickly filled up. The restaurant is pretty and it's nice and clean too. The waitress was attentive. Unfortunately the food let it down. I had the mushroom salad to start. Served on a freezing cold tiny side plate one maybe two tasty mushrooms on a bed of dry mixed lettuce leafs that we not fresh. For mains I had a savoury crepe, La Paris, supposed to be ham, emmental, creme fraiche and a fried egg. Absolutely no creme fraiche and a cold crepe, it was dry, a less than fresh and again a bit of dry salad. I did have some very nice french fries with it. again all served on a stone cold plate. Pudding, lemon meringue pie, basically out of a packet, claggy pastry soft meringue served with a smile but not very pleasant. It's a cute place and I love the decore and the service but this certainly is not French cooking...
