The Glasshouse at Charlottes — Restaurant in England

Our biggest mistake was not reading previous reviews before going here! We arrived and ordered drinks which arrived promptly, coffee and a coke. The food unfortunately was a total let down. My husband had Mozzarella sticks and I ordered the beef lasagna. It was a microwave meal, the lasagna was over microwaved and soggy with hardly any beef or sauce in it. It came with salad and frozen chips. It was inedible! At no point during our meal did any member of staff come to check if our meal was okay or if we’d like more drinks or a sweet so once my husband had finished his meal I went to the counter to pay. Again I wasn’t asked if our meal was okay and just presented with a bill. I politely told the waitress that I hadn’t eaten the lasagna as it wasn’t good. She didn’t ask what was wrong, no apology, she just snatched back the original bill off the counter, edited it to remove the cost of the lasagna and quite honestly if she could have thrown the debit card reader at me I’m sure she would. First things first, it was amazing! The prices are good for an evening meal, I think you could definitely split a pizza for 3 people and get some fries for lunch. But we came in the evening. They squeezed us in. The inside is just beautiful, lots of modern touches and beautiful real fruit plants and the stunning grape vine atop the glass ceiling. The service was also excellent, Michelle and the other staff seemed lovely and always making an effort. The food was also delicious and there was a good range, no notes needed. The only thing I would say is that they could do with more staff, but otherwise this is excellent, and I only leave reviews for places when I think people should know where to spend their money. We were looking for somewhere to eat but somewhere suitable as we had our dog with us, this place had good reviews and it is perfect with being dog friendly. Unfortunately for us, our dog was in his trolley so we needed a bit more space and there was a table near the door with plenty space for it. The staff were fantastic and also highlighted the special boards dotted about, we decided to order cocktails whilst we looked at the food menu. There plenty to choose from and we ordered about 7 small plates, kind of tapas instead of getting something from the main menu.
