We decided to try the Jheel Restaurant, and let me tell you, the ambiance was absolutely lovely. The kind of place where you could just sit back, relax, and pretend you’re on a mini holiday—if only for the evening. The staff were a real treat too—friendly without being too in-your-face, which is exactly what you want when you're trying to enjoy your dinner without a waiter hovering like a helicopter.
Now, onto the food. We ordered the lamb bhuna and the lamb joy curry (the spicy one, obviously—I’m a glutton for punishment). The curries themselves were decent enough. You could tell they’d cooked the lamb separately and then added it to the gravy afterwards. I mean, it’s not the worst thing in the world, but I would’ve preferred the lamb to have marinated in the sauce, soaking up all that flavour. A bit like a reunion, you know? Lamb and gravy, together at last. But hey, I won’t complain too much—it still tasted good.
Then came the tandoori roti. Now, if you're like me and you imagine a soft, fluffy roti fresh out of the tandoor, you might be in for a surprise. This one was as hard and crispy as a poppadom! I half expected it to crack when I tried to break it, but it did give us a good laugh. Not quite what we had in mind, though. Maybe it’s time to give that tandoor a little pep talk.
Finally, we had steamed rice. Well, some of it was fine. But one of the servings didn’t smell quite right. It had that “been sitting around too long” vibe, if you know what I mean. Definitely not the fresh, fluffy rice I was hoping for, and it was a bit of a letdown.
All in all, it was a pretty solid meal. The place has potential, but there were a few bumps in the road. It could’ve been better, but hey, we still left with full bellies and a few stories to tell. So, not bad—but not quite...
Read morePersonally, I don't leave reviews unless I had a really bad experience. I visited Lake District for a shot visit with my two friends and decided to dine-in at this restaurant. The ambiance there was okayish but the first noticeable thing was rudeness by the staff when we complained about one of the broken chair. Our order took 55min to arrive on table. They served us total flat cold drinks. Food quality was also below average. Serving portions were not adequate. I also found them a bit rude with a family with kids next to us. I hope they leave a review as well.
P.S. While writing this review and going through my receipt I realised they also over charged us by £8. DO CHECK YOUR BILL...
Read moreThe food was alright. The ordering process however… I ordered from their website which was pretty easy and straight forward, but when I had paid I got sent to this website showing my orders progress from being accepted, to being prepared and finally being ready to pick up. The only downside being that the progress never went past the order being prepared. I sat over an hour and a half waiting for the order to be ready for pickup. Unfortunately this didn’t happen. I therefore had to go there for myself and pick it up. When I went there, it had been ready for pick up for a long time, they just never notified me, neither on the website nor my phone. They also didn’t have...
