They don't appear to like disabled people. My wife works with people with learning difficulties and recently visited the Orangery with one of the people she looks after as a treat. The person in question has severe learning disabilities along with multiple other conditions. She has to be supervised 100% of the time.
Anyway, all this was made abundantly clear, and my wife was wearing ID. However, the person working there refused to allow my wife to accompany the person she was in charge of to order food claiming the Covid restrictions meant only one person at a time in the (empty and spacious) indoors area. She would make absolutely no exception. I just wonder if she would apply the same vigour to her "rules" if it was an elderly person being pushed in a wheelchair for example?
The thing is though, the Orangery seem to have form on there unaccommodating policy towards those with learning disabilities. On a previous occasion my wife visited with some of her charges the owner was cashing up. My wife explained that it had take much longer to get down there that expected and only wanted to buy some drinks to take out, but again absolutely no exceptions would be made, much to the group's disappointment.
I used to eat at the Orangery a fair bit. It's a nice spot and the food was always fairly good but over-priced. However, given their treatment of my wife and people she works with I don't think I will be returning in the...

I queiried as to why every spare table had reserved for 11:50 written on them? (It was 11:25. The lady looked annoyed at me stopping her from talking to her friends. I only wanted a sit down and drink after looking around the beautiful art gallery but I got a strong impression of it being extremely clicky and didn't feel welcome. A great shame that this establishment could not promote more openess to its clientele outside of its staff's friendship groups. I left despite empty tables everywhere with reservations hand written on them. Very poor for a...
