I've recently moved to Blackpool and for the first time, my family were visiting me up here. As my brother has a beautiful retriever puppy we needed somewhere that was dog friendly, so we called around a couple of places so we could decide where to get breakfast the day he was due to go home. The person who answered advised that it would be okay for the dog to come in, and my brother took extra precautions such as selecting a table right in the corner of the restaurant, having the dog on a short lead and bringing a small blanket the dog could lie down on whilst we ate. We ordered our food and as it was delivered, (we'd been there about 20 minutes or more at this point), the waitress said dogs weren't allowed and one of us would have to leave, with the dog. We advised that we'd been told the dog could come In and that we'd specifically made sure before hand that it was okay to do so. The waitress took away the plate of my brother's food and served it to him in a small paper box (bearing in mind it's pouring down with rain as well), and said he needs to leave. We then spoke with the manager who followed up what the waitress said and said he needs to leave, completely ignoring the fact that his restaurant was only getting our money and custom because one of his employees had told us that it was fine to go in. As me and my brother placed separate orders for our food, they only refunded one of us, and so I was forced to sit in the restaurant and eat (they messed up my order too, how hard is it to remember to add toast to a fry up?) whilst my brother was told to leave with a cardboard box of now cold food, into the pouring rain with his dog, who had been completely silent and perfectly behaved the entire time, so much so that they didn't notice for 20+ minutes she was even there. I understand the policy about dogs, the guy on the phone was wrong, but you punished us for your mistake, you ruined the time I had with my brother, whom I see very rarely, who struggles with a severe illness that can be exacerbated by stressful situations. I will never go back to a Wetherspoons anywhere in the country for how poorly you handled this entire situation. You should have let us stay, we already had food, the dog was silent and completely out of the way in the corner of the restaurant.no one had complained, no one even knew we were there. I would focus on making sure you didn't screw up a fry up and make sure your staff are actually trained to take a phone call. Disgraceful...
Read moreFood was ok. Ide say higher priced than a normal weather spoons but thats because of its location maybe. Enjoyed a lovely glass of wine. My garlic bread was abit over cooked despite asking for it lightly cooked. Dinner came out mix match i.e mains before starters, no bother we will eat it at the same time. Then my daughter got to the end of her meal nearly to find a dead fly sat at the bottom of her chips. This not only made us all feel abit sick she was really upset. On speaking to managenent he agreed to refund the bowl of chips and asked did she want more. Defo didnt at this point. They took the chips away and offered a free desert. Had zero intention on staying for desert but ice cream for free is ice cream for free so we stayed. Her and my son ordered a desert which they got and loved. Just such a shame about the fly and how nobody knew it was there. Did it die when it got burnt to death when chips was placed over it? Eww just disgusting. I go here maybe 3 times a year minimum as we go to blackpool 3 times a year, next time i visit blackpool, i wont be attending. I dont think a refund of chips and a pudding really makes it all ok i spent £30 on other peoples meals who we didnt feel like eating after they saw the fly. Such a shame. I get maybe these things happen but ive never cooked a meal at home and served a dead fly on it? Im unsure what or how it happened. To me thinking back could have even been placed there 🤢 nice pub though. Plenty of places to sit. Nice cheap drinks. Good environment and the womens...
Read moreWe've always enjoyed coming here, in fact it's one of the few reasons we come to Blackpool as we enjoy the sunsets from the roof terrace and being able to sit outside having a meal and drinks. Friday night, terrace closed as apparently the pub was too quiet despite it being hot. We had to sit on the ground floor in the smoking area, this wasn't great. We eventually moved upstairs to sit on the 1st floor terrace as we saw seats were available. Security were quick to remind us only 2 seats per table so we sat in a row to keep to the rule. Ordered desserts, it was brought over with a here's your "brownie and er some ice cream thing". Undeterred we thought we would try again Saturday night on the 3rd floor and found a table. Ordered some drinks and a really nice lad told us we could omit some recipe items if we ordered at the bar. Food came quickly and was okay but the girl serving just dumped it on the table, no service skills at all. Half way through the meal she came back and said we're closing here now so if you want to order anything else order it now. A lad came over so we asked did we have to move now and he said they were only closing the tills and bar, we could stay upstairs but would have to get drinks from 2nd floor. That's ok we thought. Then girl came at 2155 and said we are closed up here now you need to leave. Service skills here are seriously lacking, just made to feel like we were an inconvenience. Won't be...
