We (group of 3) have just been to Bella Rose cafe for lunch and we were more than disappointed with the service we received. We entered the cafe (which was full), we were greeted by a member of staff who was trying to accommodate us but the only table left was reserved for a later time, fair enough. A lovely couple asked if we wanted to sit on their table, we were then told that table sharing is not allowed. As we had been to 'Talk Bar' next door previously, we knew that they are owned by the same people we asked if we could order the food and sit in the bar next door. A staff member went in the back and returned we were told yes and to order the food. We ordered the food, paid and then went next door to sit down. As we opened the door to the 'Talk Bar', we were greeted by a member of staff telling us they were shut and we would have to leave. He then walked past us to tell the staff at Bella Rose that he was shut. So we returned to the counter after paying for our food and left with no other option than to ask for a refund!
The manager was sat on the table next to the till, eating a full english watching this all unfold. She didn't get up to support the staff, she did get up as the card machine needed some help with the refund at the end of our visit. We asked the manager why the option of sitting with the couple was off the cards she said that customers had complained in the past.
Other customers then asked if we wanted to sit on their table they were leaving, at this point we had got a refund. 20 minutes of my life I won't get back. I can honestly say I have never experienced customer service as bad as this. It is a shame the manager could not have tried to sort this situation out. I can say that my party of 3 won't be returning. Not one sorry was offered throughout the...
Read moreExcellent quality cafe :) Staff are friendly & welcoming. It does get busy but the staff remain calm & approachable. Alcoholic & non-alcoholic drinks, hot & cold beverages are available. We ordered breakfast (2 regular and small-think it was 'senior breakfast') With a full house inside & tables filling up outside, if took approx 10 minutes for food to arrive (filter coffee/tea included with breakfast...Lattes/Cappuccino etc are not part of the offer & fair play. My preference was a latte & so juice was offered in place of the regular tea/coffee which I fully appreciated. The egg was the best I've ever had on a breakfast while eating out (cooked to perfection). Hot food served & the place is immaculate & clean. There is a choice of snacks (chocolate etc...) & the choice of cakes look delicious so we will be back again to sample those. Toilet was available & clean. Honestly the best cafe I've to in a while & our new favourite place to drop in for refreshments while in Scarborough.
Thank you to Bella-Rose & Co for their hard-work, delicious food & friendly welcoming attitudes... keep up the good...
Read moreWe used to say that nothing ever happens on a Tuesday. This particular Tuesday wasn't looking too great, and the weather had turned Scarborough dull and grey again.
Needing refreshment, I descended upon Bella Rose Café. This was my first visit. I decided to have an all-day breakfast and chose the Belly Buster and asked that they leave out the black pudding, beans and toast.
I really wasn't expecting the breakfast to be so big. Every item was perfectly cooked, and I have never before found a café that cooks the top of the eggs in the way that I have always done.
One of the highlights is the tinned plumb tomatoes, which are far nicer than fresh for breakfast in my view. In addition, the mushrooms were perfect, not something that can be said of other businesses, I'm afraid.
In conclusion, then, if you are visiting Scarborough and you don't visit Bella Rose at some point in the day for breakfast, then you need your...
