Tortilla Durham — Restaurant in England

What a place! My daughter, Lucy Wragg, and I visited Tortilla on our journey to move her into her university accommodation and we could not have been more pleased with our experience. After a long and wearisome journey up from Ipswich in which we forgot our packed lunches, a hot barbacoa beef burrito was exactly what we needed to give us the energy to move in her belongings (honestly kids these days have too much stuff but that’s just my opinion! in my day we just mended and made do🥴). We were served by Saf who told us she was the supervisor and supervise did she! I’ve never seen anyone wrap a burrito with such precision and expertise not even a single piece of cheese was lost! She was extremely friendly and gave us excellent recommendations about the city and reassured Lucy that she would be ok and not to worry if first year wasn’t everything the stereotypes say which was lovely to hear because the furthest education I had was the community college and since her father left us for Lucy’s best friend times have been tough. I’ve visited Tortilla’s in other cities and always had pleasant experiences so decided to give my new local a go. Food was alright, standard for Tortilla but I wouldn’t sit in again. I was sat down eating for less than 10 minutes and in that twin two separate staff members came up to four times, first to ask if everything was okay with the food which was fine. Secondly to try to upsell drinks and sides (which we already said no to say the till, twice) and then twice to try and take our tray and rush us to finish, once when we weren’t even finished and I was still holding my food in my hand. I get being attentive and making sure we have everything that we need but four times in 10 minutes is a bit ridiculous and we left very quickly after the final...

First time going. The Food was ok. Nothing fancy, nothing great. Luke warm food, nothing hot. Coriander rice somehow got mixed into my burrito which I don't like, good thing I didn't have an allergy to it. Servers just did not seem to care. Blank and dull, didn't explain much. Also one server, with tongs, was playing with the pork filling. Not good practice at all. Worst part is all the extra charges for certain ingredient options, extra £1 of this, extra for that. The damn guacamole, which is a staple in burritos, was an extra £1.30?!?! Over all, not satisfied, mediocre food taste, to expensive once all the additions add up, service was poor. Definitely not going again...
