Got a takeaway fish n chips WOW & i mean this .. BEST WE EVER HAD South of Brid ... service was brilliant . also fryer gave us extra piece of fish & said the regular was a bit small .. ha who dose that ? It was plenty bit enough but was much appreciated .. the batter was perfect ,fish white and fresh chips fab . we went to freeport car park to eat them ,we managed to eat the lot . Even the wife said she cant believe she ate it all Ha .. it was sooo nice . we traveled from Brid to try . & well worth the ride out .. will def be back .. Thanks to all involved . its so nice to find the perfect Place ( pardon the pun ) .. well worth the award this shop won .. far Better than any in Brid & that's saying something , i feel like a traitor but had to be said .UPDATE just being for our dinner and sat inside this time as a treat .. we got a table for 2 straight away with out booking .. Very polite staff and service was fast no sooner sat down and out meal was in front of us and WOW the size of the haddock was awesome ! peas pot of tea bread tartar and some chips .. Brilliant well worth the trip especially from Brid .. will def call again ... Yumm .OH and the price well worth it for 2 so can't understand some of these bad reviews as you get what you pay for these days . well done Whitheads ..UPDATE .. Since out last review we have being 2 more times and it is STILL FAB &...We just being again today to have takeaway f&c with gravey .. WOW The place is very consistent with the super batter and perfect cooked fish ... its a trip out we will be doing as much as poss . we love to go sit somewhere in car to get stuck in and price to portion ratio is great .. just cant fault it .. so we cannot understand the very few moning minnies on hear . They must be fake reviews As all the staff are well oiled and tuned in to what they need to be doing .. the service is top notch...you can see the time and effort that has transformed this fish shop over the years ,So Trust me when i say this place whiteheads deserve the awards .. BEST IN BRITAIN .. Il be back ....... UPDATE: Yes we being back yesterday to bring all way back to Bridlington .. and yes the foil we wrapped them in did a great job as still hot .. so now we know , we can have a decent f&c tea when we fancy one . and know its well worth the round trip . SPOT ON ... UPDATE : You know the feeling when you tell folk about how nice this fish shop is ... well friends of ours made a special trip to try for them selves and they made no bones about telling me it was just ok and no different to Brid fish n chips ... well i beg to differ , but thats our opinion as the times we being they have being well worth an Award .. SOOO all i can say to those that have being thru recomendation and give only 1 star and slate the place . is you must have hit it on a Bad day ... So i will never recommend anywhere again as it allways backfires & i wish id kept my gob shut .. So at least the Q be smaller...

Went a week ago. There was four of us. We got seated pretty much straight away which was good. Food order was taken quickly, we all ordered the fish & chip meal. When I started eating my food I noticed something black on 1 of my chips on closer inspection I realised that it was a fly that had been deep fried on my chip!! I alerted 1 of the staff and showed them it, to which their reaction was yuck, eeewwww! That was that no apology nothing she just took it into the kitchen, when she came out she never said anything at all to me, so I thought we'll maybe they will apologise when I go to pay. No this was not the case nobody else was aware of it until I pointed it out when asked if everything was OK with my meal . The staff member apologised & took the full price of 1 meal off my bill which I was ok with. Then the original staff member who I pointed it out to came up & said no just take the price of a bag of chips off as it was only on the chip!!!! How rude I was absolutely disgusted. So no apology & £3 taken off my bill when I had ordered 4 full meals! Absolute joke. I have always recommended whiteheads to everyone but definitely not anymore with that...

I had high expectations due to their recent takeaway award and was really looking forward to fish & chips. We ordered a portion of small haddock and chips with peas and a portion of fish goujons with chips and curry sauce. The small haddock was around £7.50 just on its own, so a bit expensive, but I don't get chippy often and expected prices to have risen due to the current circumstances.

The food was served in boxes which I prefer and it looked very nice. One thing I noticed straight away was the fish was very small. It was about the size I've got when buying a cheap fish special from other places. The goujons looked good value tho, for just over £5 including chips and side.

The chips were nice and soft and not too greasy. The peas and curry were both lovely too, just perfect. The goujon I tried tasted fresh and had crispy batter. The let down was my fish. The thickest part was very dry and became difficult to chew and the batter was thin at the bottom and stuck to the paper.

For what it was, I thought it was expensive so doubt I'll be making another special trip to this...
