Have seen this establishment on several YouTube reviews and have been wanting to try it for a long time. Every review I’ve seen was a positive one with some saying it’s the best fish and chips in Blackpool. Finally got the chance to visit for lunch one Tuesday in November.

Upon entering we were warmly greeted. Show to a table. I’m currently having to use a walking stick sand I’m cautious about where I sit. The seats here are bench type and not bolted or fixed to the floor. I was shown to one which didn’t have another table / seat behind it and told this would give me more room. That was very thoughtful and a nice start.

Menus were on the table and we quickly decided what we were having. My brother went with the haddock special. Fish, chips, choice of one side, slice of bread and butter and a drink for £14.75. I think that’s excellent value compared with many other places. I went for the King sized haddock with chips at £18.95 with a portion of curry sauce at £1.50 and a large coffee at £2.75.

The waitress came back to say they had no haddock so would l like cod or they could do me two pieces of haddock. I stuck with the haddock. Again I thought this was good customer service to offer that option. Although I would have liked to have seen just how big the portion size was.

Our meals took a while to come out. A sure sign they were being cooked fresh. Have to say we were very impressed. The chips were very good. and a good sized portion. The fish was excellent. Both of us agreed on this and felt it was the nicest piece of haddock we have had for a long, long time. Everything was piping hot. My curry sauce was nice. It had a subtle kick to it. However, I wouldn’t order it again. It masked the taste of my fish n chips and they were best enjoyed on their own. The curry sauce wasn’t really needed.

We were asked on a least two occasions if everything was ok with our meals. Customer service was good.

I don’t know if they do dessert as never looked or thought about it as we were both stuffed.

A couple of tiny issues have stopped me giving it 5 stars. Neither of us enjoyed our drinks. My brother had tea as part of his meal. I had ordered a coffee separately. They have been served well before we got our meal so were cold by the time out meals arrived. I know I didn’t finish my cup. Just wasn’t enjoying it.

Disabled access will be an issue for some. There are a couple of steps to get in to the place and it’s not the widest doorway. If you are in a wheelchair I think you will have problems. However, there are strong, robust rails at the entrance and the steps taking you into the larger dining area. Very helpful for those struggling with their mobility.

Also I didn’t see a disabled toilet downstairs. The toilets are upstairs with a baby changing room as well.

The staff on the whole were very friendly and obliging. Only let down by the guy on the till who took our payment. He didn’t seem to want to engage at all.

So overall despite one or two small issues I’d have no hesitation in recommending the fish and chips here and would be more than happy to visit again. But best be quick as I read a few days back the current owners are looking to sell. They have set a high bar for any new...

I made the trip from Manchester to Blackpool just to try this place as it gets fantastic reviews online, both in writing and video reviews. I've tried to eat here twice before, but it's been closed for staff holidays when I've turned up. So I made sure it was open today before making the 50 minute journey.

I was disappointed. It's just an average chippy. It was nice, don't get me wrong, I just don't feel that it lived up to the reviews, especially when compared to the likes of Trenchers in Whitby, Whiteheads in Hornsea, or even my usual go to, Sykes in Swinton.

This was just average.

I had haddock, chips and curry sauce. I thought that the haddock and chips were worthy of the £8.70 price tag, which is about average these days for the portion size I got.

I waited about 15 minutes as the fish was freshly cooked. The batter wasn't that crisp though, but that could be down to us walking for 5 minutes before sitting to eat, and it may have been softened by the steam.

The curry sauce was a proper traditional English chippy curry sauce. One of the best I've had.

I feel it's a bit cheeky calling themselves Yorkshire Fisheries though, as they cook in oil, not fat. That's a bit of a disappointment. Yes, not all chippies in Yorkshire use fat, but most do, and the name gives the impression you're going to get traditional Yorkshire chips, in Lancashire 😂. Maybe that's one of the reasons I felt let down 🤷‍♂️

I have to mention the lady who served us. I had our two pomeranians with us, and ordered a sausage for them. I asked if she minded cutting it for them, as they're really small dogs. She took about 5 minutes and cut it really really small for them, which was lovely.

I would eat here again. There was nothing bad about the meal. My disappointment was that it wasn't the amazing experience reviews have lead me to believe...

I had an amazing experience at Yorkshire Fisheries, where I enjoyed what I can confidently say is the best fish and chips in the UK. I ordered the King Cod Fish & Chips, and it was absolutely delicious—crispy on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside, and cooked to perfection. The portion size was incredibly generous; in fact, one King Cod Fish & Chips is easily enough for two people. Every bite was full of flavor, and it was clear that the ingredients were fresh and of high quality.

What made my visit even more enjoyable was the outstanding service. The staff, Renee and Chloe, were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive. From the moment I walked in, they made me feel at home. They took the time to introduce the menu, gave great recommendations, and ensured that everything was just right. Their warm and professional attitude truly made a difference, making the whole experience even better.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was also great—clean, cozy, and comfortable. It’s the kind of place that feels both traditional and inviting, perfect for enjoying a classic British meal. I can see why Yorkshire Fisheries has such a great reputation.

If you’re looking for top-quality fish and chips with excellent service and generous portions, this is the place to go. I highly recommend it, and I’ll definitely be coming back whenever I’m...

An excellent family run chippy, the oldest in Blackpool (opened in 1907 to be exact) and still going strong! It's tucked away in a side street close to Blackpool North Station. Came here for lunch and the minute I entered, I was greeted by cheerful and friendly staff who could not have been more welcoming. The restaurant, with a takeaway next to it, is larger than it looks from the outside, with comfy leather seating and some nice nautical themed pictures and tapestries on the walls. Very clean, with a hand sanitiser at the entrance, and tables cleaned as soon as they were vacated. The toilets (with baby changing), at the top of a long narrow staircase, were also very clean. Although it was busy, service was efficient and it didn't take too long to get my meal. Had the special cod in batter, with chips and mushy peas. The food was freshly cooked and served very hot. Generous portions. Good sized fish, and I could choose between regular and light batter. Some of the best chips I've eaten in a restaurant, chunky but also light and fluffy. With a slice of brown bread and butter, and a large cup of good strong tea, the meal cost £14. The atmosphere was so relaxed and friendly. I really enjoyed my lunch here and will return.
