A fortnight ago, my family and I went on holiday to Blackpool to celebrate mine and my husband’s 24th wedding anniversary. We have previously had pleasant and joyful experiences at this restaurant and did on our last visit in June 2023. However, this visit was deeply disappointing. We visited on a Tuesday with the hopes of purchasing the half price steaks for our anniversary dinner with our two daughters. My daughter and I went up to order and asked for the steaks as they were on a deal that day. We were informed by the man who was working the bar at the time (he himself was completely lovely and is not at fault in this situation) that this deal was available in the upstairs area only. We explained that I am disabled (I have severe mobility issues including spina bifida and others too long to list here, as well as using a mobility aid) and would be unable to use the stairs to get to the other part of the restaurant as there is no lift. We asked if it would be possible to have the food downstairs as it would otherwise be impossible and the man at the bar went to check with the chef. Once he returned, he said that we would have to go upstairs as the chef refused to allow us to eat this downstairs and it was not an option to put through on the till downstairs. My daughter offered to go upstairs to pay and collect the food but the chef also refused this as people downstairs may also want this offer downstairs if they see our food. This was confusing, as not only could they be informed that an exception was made because of accessibility but everyone in the downstairs restaurant (apart from us) had already ordered or been served their food. This experience was disappointing and exclusionary. What we hoped would be a fun family dinner became an embarrassing and distressing experiences as I was refused service because of my disability. Not only this, but it is important to note that a platform has been installed on the ground floor with a high step, meaning this area is no longer accessible to me and there is no longer a disabled toilet. I waited a fortnight to post this as I contacted the restaurant directly in the hopes of them rectifying the issue or acknowledging and making improvements based on this feedback. However, I am yet to receive a response and therefore felt it important to share this and save other disabled people the experience of not feeling welcome here. It is shameful for a business to act in such a discriminatory manor as this once beloved restaurant becomes a place to avoid now my family and I no longer...
Read moreWhat a fantastic experience. We were spending a couple of days in Blackpoo, 9th and 10th August,l as our first outing since the COVID outbreak and we were a little nervous, but no need. My partner has various food allergies and this restaurant flagged up on Google as a good option. We hadn't booked but they manged to squeeze us in at 8pm. The restaurant was busy but not uncomfortably so. All staff were wearing masks and other PPE and had Track & Trace in place which set us at ease. The menu is quite extensive with plenty for a fussy eater like me to choose from and to our delight they brought Lorraine a full A4 sheet of options for her gluten free/dairy free/garlic & onion free diet. The food itself was very tasty and very well presented with generous portion size. I have never taster a better bbq pulled pork which was the topping on my hog roast pork sausage in a roll. My partner had the gluten free grilled chicken beast and half rack of ribs with sweet potato fries and salad. Her son had the bacon cheese burger and fries. We were all astounded at how tasty and fulfilling our meals were. We must also give credit to the staff who worked tirelessly providing excellent customer service at all times, especially our lovely server Jordan, she was fantastic and nothing was a chore, she is obviously a great asset to the restaurant. We can't wait to return to Blackpool so that we can revisit West Coast Rock Cafe and enjoy their delicious food and atmosphere again. We will...
Read moreI'm so glad I decided to try this café for lunch while out shopping! It turned out to be an excellent choice. It's in a good central location opposite the Winter Gardens. There's a grill and bar on the ground floor, but I ate in the spacious upstairs restaurant. It's a vibrant space with colourful, quirky murals, TV screens showing classic rock videos, and great views of the town centre from the window tables. Had to climb another flight of stairs to get to the toilets (though I believe there are some in the downstairs bar). The atmosphere was laid-back and friendly. The well stocked bar had an excellent choice of craft beers, and they do some really imaginative milkshakes. And what a huge selection on the menu - everything from burgers and club sandwiches to Mexican food, plus a kids' menu. Had the chicken brochettes marinated in Jack Daniels, served with a jacket potato, salad and sour cream. There's a choice between honey, spicy and barbecue sauce with the meat (I chose honey). The meal was well cooked, the chicken tender, great flavours and generous portions. The American pale ale was a refreshing accompaniment to the meal. Treated myself to a slice of New York vanilla cheesecake for afters. Drenched in Baileys, with a little jug of cream, it was absolutely yummy! Great service throughout the meal from a very friendly and attentive young waitress. Would definitely recommend this café and...
