Pious Sushi & Bubble tea — Restaurant in Exeter

Honestly pretty disappointed with this place. The staff seemed nice at first when we got there and when we were ordering. We ordered some salmon california sushi and chicken bao buns. We then got told after we ordered they didn't have any bao buns and that he would make us a crunchy chicken sushi box instead. There were no signs saying they were out and it was showing as in stock on the till and didn't offer us a refund, still decent of him to offer something else instead so we took it. We ended up getting told to leave the store for a bit so they could take photos, was very cold outside but I wasn't too fussed by this either. They then gave us not 1, but 2 boxes of chicken sushi in place of the bao buns which I thought was just a nice gesture for the inconvenience. He then told us that it was 'an extra £3 of food', I took this to mean he gave us a free £3 for the inconvenience, but no. He made an extra box of chicken sushi, which we didn't order in the first place, then made us pay an extra £3 for it. He didn't really give us the choice of paying, just told us to pay and we also weren't aware or told he was making extra but just had to pay anyway. This made me quite annoyed but I hoped it would he worth it if the sushi was nice. Honestly the sushi is okay, I've had much better and don't think it's worth it. My salmon sushi had the tiniest amount of salmon in each roll, genuinely tiny and neither sushi had much flavour at all. I also watched the chef handle money then go straight back to handling food with the same gloves, horrible cleanliness and I wouldn't be surprised if I become ill after. Felt like complaining whilst there but just couldn’t. Went there today for lunch, we were two adults and two children when we arrived the man preparing the sushi was on his earpiece phone just talking over the sushi he was boxing and also over what he prepared for us, shocking and extremely unhygienic, he was talking from the moment we entered the shop, we ate part of our meal and left, I wanted to leave before and cancel my order but my friend made me stay and all throughout our experience there the guy was on his phone. The cashier guy was very nice and kind told us about the 20% discount, he was bossed around by the phone guy that stoped conversation just to tell him to do things that he was already doing I thought this was very unpleasant. His customer skills were null! The salmon colour was weird we brought a whole box of salmon nigiri home and we threw it away as we could see part of the rice was orange proper orange and the clear part of the box also had orange colouring on it, NEVER saw this before in my life. The sushi had so much rice and it was kind of caked that literally we removed half of it from the other nigiris that we ordered whilst there. My friend ordered a bao which took forever and arrived when everybody finished. By the way we waited for the phone guy to finish a whole batch o sushi boxes before he started preparing our order. Won’t be going back and don’t recommend it to any body that wants a decent service and decent sushi. Unfortunately, the sushi is not up to the same standards as the restaurant even itsu a big chain, unfortunately. Lots of advertisement and pictures show a different thing as you can see in the pictures. Not even Instagram post are the not the real thing that they actually do in their Takeaway. Unfortunately, me and my work mates used to come quite a lot until the till the quality got worse. As you can see in the pictures it’s worse than the supermarkets like Waitrose. We fought we give it a go tonight and see if there’s any has changed since the last six months. unfortunately it’s still the same. For people that don’t know anything about sushi they may think this is really good and great value. but but unfortunately anyone that knows anything about sushi from the motherland on the quality probably not the best.
