This was my first time having a hotpot so take my review with a grain of salt.
I went here with 3 friends and enjoyed the sheer amount of different ingredients we could put in the hotpot.
We did one half vegetarian, one half with meat. Obviously, if you do it this way you will get some cross-contamination, as things can get messy, but if you aren't super strict on that stuff then you'll be fine.
You can mix-and-match a lot of different ingredients. We had the tomato base, dried and fresh tofu, rice cakes, mushrooms and ramen on the veggie side. All of it tasted pretty good and we had a great time.
Make sure to not bring any white or expensive clothes as you will get them stained!
Communication with the staff was a little difficult due to a language barrier. We had to repeat or rephrase our questions a few times. The waitress came to top up our stock /soup base at one point but topped up both with the meat stock even though we had tried to keep the vegetarian and meat parts separate.
We ate quite a lot and total price per person ended up around £20, so it's good value as far as...
Read moreWow what an amazing new experience. Don’t think I’ll ever truly enjoy a good Chinese meal again without at least remembering this one. Figured the food must be authentic as all the other customers were Asian, seems a good sign to me. We were asked the type of food we liked and how we liked it et cetera before being given some recommendations, which were spot on. When the food arrived it seemed a little daunting how we should cook it in the hotpot but the friendly staff soon gave us the directions and help we needed. The food was so fresh and tasty it was difficult to stop eating, and it maybe a day or two before we need to eat again. Highly recommended and looking forward to a return visit, I’ve got the hotpot bug. PS. They do other food other than hotpot and will maybe try that some other time. Scored lower on service as did have to ask for napkins. A little lower on atmosphere as it’s all about the food and you need to see what you’re doing so there was no music and the lighting a...
Read more5 Stars Absolutely loved our experience at Dragon’s Den Hot Pot in Exeter! The food is authentic and packed with flavour. Specially the Sichuan pepper-based broth, which is bit too spicy. It’s a real treat for anyone who enjoys bold, numbing spice in their hot pot.
The setup is clean and cozy, with a good variety of meats, seafood, and vegetables to cook right at your table. The dipping sauces are fresh and customizable, adding to the fun and flavor.
The staff may not speak much English, but they are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to help. They made sure we had everything we needed and even showed us how to properly use the hot pot setup.
Sure! Here's the corrected version of that sentence:
The vegetable bao buns are a must try. A hidden gem in Exeter — we’ll definitely be...
