We ordered the haddock and chips and fish sandwich from fishermans wife at designer outlet in York. The first I knew about my order being ready was when it was flung across the counter at me by a member of staff I can only assume is after a job in the tills in Aldi. Upon catching my lunch as it hurtled towards me I can only describe the haddock as being more at home in an urn than on a plate. I didn't know whether to eat it or apologise to it that its death was in vain. After breaking 2 wooden forks trying to cut into it, I decided yo take it back to the same member of staff, who was momentarily resting his fish throwing arm. I said that unfortunately the fish was inedible and would like a new one. A new fish never arrived, although possibly a blessing in disguise as fillings are expensive these days. Read moreWith fantastic service, from friendly staff, and traditional fish and chips (or in my case battered sausage and chips) The Fisherman's Wife provided a delightful lunch for myself and my crew mate (and, as we were in our Ambulance uniform, they threw in a discount, too!) In this time of concern over the pandemic, they would also seem to be taking sensible measures to limit the risk of infection, alongside their usual practices (the kitchen looks impeccable)
