Our House Bar — Restaurant in Gloucester

Popped in a week or so ago for a few cocktails with my partner as we just fancied getting out of the house… thank goodness we did (My partner persuaded me to leave my first ever google review because of our experience LOL)! We discovered this place due to some recommendations from friends so thought we’d give it a go! It was lovely to find a cocktail and wine bar with such a wonderful vibe and atmosphere! We were greeted and served by Jake, a knowledgeable and efficient bartender, who seemed like he genuinely cared about us having a fantastic time! The cocktails he made us were delicious and he gave us some wonderful recommendations based on what we enjoyed! As it was quiet, we were also able to just sit and enjoy having a chat with him which is unfortunately so rare nowadays! My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our whole experience and plan to return more regularly from now on! A total hidden gem in Gloucester and nice to be able to go out for high quality drinks, both locally and without the ridiculous prices of similar bars based in cheltenham, bristol and the like, and be served by staff like Jake. I have also only heard good things about the owners and other staff members that makes me think this little wine bar in gloucester has a real family feel! “Our House” really means it when they say “Everyone is welcome”! Our house is a classy establishment with a great atmosphere. It's family-run with knowledgeable, friendly staff. We visited for one of their monthly wine tasting nights and were pleasantly pleased. This was my first-ever wine tasting, and I was so impressed by the knowledge and the format. The measures weren’t shy either. Accompanied by a cheese and meats board that matched perfectly to the wine, the evening was a great way to sample wines with good company and learn a little something along the way. A couple of others who joined me that evening are well-established in the wine tasting world, and even they were really impressed by the format and the evening as a whole. We were so pleased that we took the opportunity to book the following month's wine tasting evening. The night was £30 pp which is incredible value for money! I’ve yet to sample Our House on a normal evening, but it’s somewhere I will be visiting again, as it has become one of my new favorite spots in Gloucester Quays. Had been a few times before to which I thoroughly enjoyed the service and the drinks, so much so that returned I last night with my family after having recommended it to my sister who had never been before.

Came in and was greeted and seated and our order taken promptly (4 different cocktails). Drinks arrived one at a time, with the last one being slammed on the table and the waitress walking off in a huff (not sure why but we all shrugged it off and continued to enjoy our drinks).

Because the venue is off an intimate size you can’t help but observe your surroundings and this is when the atmosphere was spoiled. 2 of the staff was absolutely miserable, more interested in their phones, chatting amongst themselves and stomping round in the venue, pulling faces, huffing and sighing rather than providing service to their patrons.
