Wow! I stopped in here for a quick pint as my train was delayed... £5.40 for a pint of Strongbow! This is most definitely the most expensive pint on the street!
I wouldn't have expected to pay so much based on the atmosphere, food options, and staffing levels (just one member of staff catering to all the clientele).
Also it seems it's a bit tired inside, which incidentally is no big problem (unless you are charging so much for the basics). Disappointment is the word that springs to mind.
You're invited to the 'Best entertainment in Town'?... Unfortunately I will never find out, as the drinks are overpriced, and you can easily find a brilliant atmosphere, and a very reasonably priced pint everywhere else you care to look!
Despite my reservations, the staff seem attentive enough, and seem to offer a good standard of customer service.
With the competition they have on the door step they are missing a trick. I think people would come here if it was cheap and cheerful, so charging folk so much for a quick pint just won't work.
I know times are tough, but honestly, this place could drive sales by being the Best Pint in Town!
Based on my experience , I couldn't possibly recommend 26 Hope Street, unfortunately. It's seriously overpriced, and would benefit from offering reasonably priced drinks, that reflect a people friendly environment that would be a great place to meet friends before a night on the Town.

Read moreI was out for the evening with family. Ordered drinks and about five minutes after an aggressive bouncer approached who took my partner by the shoulders and took him outside. He said he had walked straight into the pub and had lifted a drink and a bag. He then asked if I was with with him and told him I had to leave. My older family members then arrived and the bouncer said "are you with them?" and he said "you can stay?! I am not sure the logic here... The door staff did apologise, however, we were shaken up and it is a case of too little too late. I complained to the manager and on exiting the bouncer asked to speak to me. He had no regard for personal space and I had to ask him to step away from me. I strongly believe he was so close to me in attempt to intimidate me.

If they were working in our hometown they wouldn't get away with being so cheeky to people they wouldn't last 2 seconds. Gutted and don't know if I...
