We were very excited to see there was a new place on the food court and immediately decided to try it as the menu looked great. Out of 4 friends, one got Taco, the other one got 5 guys and my friend, and I decided to share the Phat box. When we got the box, everything looked overcooked, almost completely charred and not very appetising. The two prawns looked big but they had a very strong fish taste, not one you'd normally get from eating prawns. Chicken wings were burnt on the grill, all we could taste was burnt skin. It was supposed to be for one person but the two of us only managed to eat half of it as it really didn't taste good. Unfortunately, after half an hour or so I had one of the worst stomach cramps which lasted for two days! When I called my other friends to ask if they had the same problem, only the one who shared The Phat Box with me said that he was suffering from very bad diarrhoea and strong stomach cramps. I am not sure if the chicken or shrimp were not cooked/stored correctly but what we went through was some proper food poisoning. We hadn't eaten anything new that day and because it's is only happened to two people who had the same meal, we know it was the food we purchased from Afrikana. We also had fries with Afrikana sauce and not only it looked like vomit, it also tasted disgusting. Won't be going...
Read moreSuch a disappointment. Menu forever changes, the food quality has dropped significantly. This was our go-to at one point, the phat chicken box was fantastic- they USE to serve the phat box with: Grilled jerk chicken quarter, 2 buffalo jerk/bbq'd wings with sesame seeds and actual homely flavour, option of jollof or rice and peas, couple jumbo prawns, authentic macaroni cheese, coleslaw, tenderstem broccoli and plantain. This was £15.95 - fantastic meal and then some! See picture of how it looked when delivered in black tray.
Now, they serve: 2 tiny grilled wings, fried chicken strips, any old pasta macaroni (sometimes they'll give you those pasta spirals or large random pasta shapes that aren't meant for a proper authentic macaroni cheese), corn on the cob (probably a 3rd of a full piece by the way), plantain that aren't cut properly and some gravy. We even tried the smash box and again, not worth the meal. Much better burgers around elsewhere. White box photo shows the poorly updated menu version of chicken box and smash box with the fried tenders and tiny corn on cob.
They need to fix this and bring the old menu back. I'd gladly amend my review if they sort their menu out. Until then, I'll skip past to go to one of the other many restaurants...

Out of 4 friends, one got Taco, the other one got 5 guys and my friend, and I decided to share the Phat box. It looked amazing and I loved how the shrimps were massive and the rest of the food tasted amazing. However, a few hours later I had one of the worst stomachaches ever and had a very bad diarrhea which went on for two days. Having said that, we will certainly give this place another try and have their food again. If we don't have the same issue, I will change my...
