This was our first experience of ethiopian food. The lady that served us was extremely helpful and explained the dishes and how they would be served. We had a thick lentil soup which was hearty and delicious. For mains I had a beef dish, sorry I can't remember what it is called, the beef was lean and very tender, the thick sauce was spicy and delicious. I wasn't a massive fan of the bread texture but the taste of the bread (injera) complimented the sauce. My son had a lamb dish served in a broth with peppers and tomatoes which he enjoyed, I did try the lamb and it was tasty, he had rice with his lamb, the portion of rice was generous. Other people enquired about what we thought of the food, which we liked. We both think this is a friendly, happy and inviting place. I look forward to another visit, hopefully a longer one so that we can stop for coffee too. It is very fairly priced, clean and the food freshly prepared. We thoroughly enjoyed...
Read moreSo my first ever experience walking in here at 4pm while the place is still open, I walk in to some nice mellow ambient music and saw there was only 2 customers in, so I approach the bar part to order some food, I was after a shawarma sandwich or wrap as advertising on the outside window, there was nobody there to serve until a woman came through some double doors, I told her what I wanted and she replied sorry only african food, which is fine but she failed to sell me anything and did not look interested one bit. Not sure if I was the wrong skin colour or anything but it wasn't very welcoming at all so I walked out and will never return. Poor customer service, unwelcoming not how to do business in my eyes, if she would have tried to sell me something or made me feel more welcome I wouldn't find the need for this review but bad...
Read moreI've been meaning to try this place for ages having heard they had good vegan options. Finally went with a friend tonight and WOW!! Really relaxed, friendly vibe. It is clearly a popular place to be because it was fairly full when we arrived. The lady who runs the place was warm and friendly. She explained the menu to us and recommended food for us. We shared a massive vegan platter of food. Everything was absolutely delicious and filling. The flavours of the food were perfectly balanced and I could eat there every night. I've tried Ethiopian food before and always enjoyed it, but this was the best I've ever had. The biggest shock was the bill. Dinner for two with drinks for £29? I feel like I travelled back in time to the early 90's with those prices. We'd happily have paid that each! Already planning...
