The ladies and gentlemen who work here are always pleasant and helpful, with suggestions of upcoming events and places and things to go see in and around Hull. That's what I love about Hull there's always something going on. I'm from Beverley and it has its charms, but Hull is full of hidden gems, sadly in recent years we have lost many of the shops that drew folk into Hull City centre, but don't let that put you off. Some years ago my husband and I saw an article in a magazine , it said few people knew what was on their doorstep, it went on to suggest looking at the local area as somewhere you'd never been and find out exactly what was there. So we made one week in the summer as a "holiday" in our home town, we gathered as much information as we could, visited all the cities museums, parks, the art gallery, walked along the river bank from St Andrews Dock to Victoria Dock, cycles down the many cycle paths in Hull seeing areas we didn't normally see, everyday seeing something new. My husband was born in Hull and hadn't seen half of these things. To be honest we barely scratched the surface & now there is even more with the Deep and the outlets and galleries in the old fruit market. Visit the Welcome Information Centre tell them what interests you and they will point you in the right direction, you won't be...
Read moreI am the Trips & Outings Group Leader for Radcliffe on Trent u3a. We visited with 49 members, many of whom had never visited Hull before. Prior to our visit I had contacted the Hull Tourism Board. They were very helpful and they arranged to meet our coach on arrival, this they did and passed out literature and maps to all our members, which was well received by all. I can confirm that without exception the visit was enjoyed by everyone and was a great success. The proximity of the many attractions from the Deep, around which the visit was centered, was helpful for our older members. Many visited the various eateries in the area and were very happy with the offerings they received. I can categorically recommend Hull as a very interesting place to visit, with the Deep Aquarium an outstanding place to start your journey, the Streetlife and East Yorkshire & Hull Museums a short walk away and the outstanding Ferens Art Gallery near to the Shopping area well worth making the effort to visit. All in all we had a great day thoroughly enjoyed by all our members and highly...
