Discriminatory, outwardly sexist bouncers, stole the deposit from us.
Booked a party of 19 in for birthday drinks, got to the door to be greeted by unfriendly bouncers who point blank said they wouldnât let all of us in (it wasnât even busy). We questioned it and the bouncer straight up said âyou really think Iâm going to let all of you inââŚ. Yes because we made a booking and paid a deposit!! We had two friends (28 year olds) who didnât have ID on them. One was a female, one a maleâŚ. They happily let the female in even though she had no ID then straight away refused to let her boyfriend in based on the fact he had no ID⌠completely sexist! Both clearly over the age of 18!
We decided not to put the deposit against drinks and get it refunded, as we wanted to leave as quick as we came in, due to half the party having to go elsewhere! We decided to reclaim the deposit as a refund⌠Emailed to reclaim the deposit and proceeded to be asked to provide evidence of not having received it?! How can we show a receipt of something we havenât received?? Continued to ask for the deposit back only to be sent an email with a random receipt on it which apparently showed it being put towards drinks, even though we clearly did not state thatâs how we wanted to get the deposit back. If any drinks were purchased in the short time we were there, they were paid for!
This is not the first time I have experienced discriminatory behavior from be at one. Thoroughly disappointing as used to be one of my favourite places to go in Brighton but I now no longer want to give them my money or time.
I think you should be looking into how your bouncers and staff treat everyone VERY differently and perhaps ensure people are paid their...
Read moreThe way in which my friends and I were treated in this bar was nothing short of disgraceful. We arrived early to have a drink at the bar and had a reservation for a table to which I had a card shoved in my hand. It was a 40th birthday celebration so we had researched bars and made the reservation well in advance. A drink was knocked by a girl stood next to me for which I was blamed and deemed âtoo intoxicatedâ to be served anymore alcohol. It wasnât even 4pm, I was not intoxicated at all and was called âdrunkâ when I explained the one drink had been knocked! My friend had posed on a bar stool for a photo (photo attached as itâs so highly offensive!) and even has the rude, belittling bar person in stood next to her not once did she say we were not allowed to take pictures in this manner. My friend then put her foot on the bar again as a joke for a split second and we were asked to leave! The girl in question refused to give her name but the way in which she spoke to 3 women and the accusations she made about our character were disgusting! Very rude, nasty and spiteful! She also said we had âa warningâ we had no conversation what so ever with her or were we âwarnedâ about our so called behaviour (which was being stood at a bar drinking a cocktail) at all. I asked for my booking deposit back as she refused to listen to any of us and said our booking was gone - she simply smirked and went 7-10 working days. We all left feeling humiliated and shocked at the treatment we received. I would not recommend this...
Read moreMy friends and I visited your bar on 15th of June 2024 and were disappointed with the service we received. One of our friends, who had only ordered two drinks throughout the evening, was denied service by a blonde bartender who claimed he was intoxicated. Despite explaining it was his second drink and requesting clarification, the bartender refused to serve him anything but water. When he calmly questioned this decision, the bartender denied any misunderstanding. The situation further escalated when the bartender removed a drink I had purchased for my friend from his hand and asked him to leave. I attempted to reason with the bartender but was dismissed. We requested to speak with the manager to address the situation and potentially receive a refund for the drinks we were unable to finish due to the incident. The person in change however, sided with the bartender's version of events without investigating further and offered no explanation or apology. We left the bar feeling disrespected and unheard. This experience fell short of the standards we expect from Be at One. We hope you will take steps to improve staff training on customer service and to prevent similar situations in the future.
PS I have attempted to call you 5 times since your comment from my 1...
