I visited Buffet 68 after reading some reviews, but my experience was extremely disappointing and honestly felt like a waste of money.
First off, calling this place an “Asian buffet” is misleading. It’s more like a basic curry house rebranded to look like a buffet. The selection was very limited, and the quality of the food was poor. The wings tasted frozen, definitely not fresh, and the chicken biryani was just standard rice with barely any authentic Asian spices—nothing like what you’d expect from a proper biryani. The curry was overly oily, and you could literally see the layer of oil sitting on top (as you can see in the picture, if you’re checking reviews with images).
The cutlery and crockery added to the disappointment. I noticed stains on the forks and knives, and the plate had visible marks. I asked the staff for replacements, which they provided, but it’s unacceptable for dirty cutlery to even be on the table in the first place. Keep an eye on this if you go—cleanliness seems to be lacking.
The service wasn’t any better. Staff had an attitude and didn’t seem bothered about helping or making the experience pleasant. It felt like customer service just wasn’t a priority here.
And to make matters worse, parking was a nightmare. I spent over 30 minutes looking for a spot. Out of frustration, I parked on a side street, only to return and find a parking ticket on my car. There’s no proper parking arrangement or clear guidance, which is a huge inconvenience.
Drinks also aren’t included in the buffet price, which is surprising considering how much they charge. For what you pay, you’d expect better food, better service, and an all-around better experience.
Overall, Buffet 68 is all show and no substance. If you value quality food, fresh ingredients, good service, cleanliness, and convenience, there are far better buffet places in Cardiff. I strongly recommend...
Read moreWe wanted to go for a birthday meal so we thought we would try this place as it was a newly opened buffet place. I think it was a wrong choice because it was a disappointment.
As a buffet place you expect it to have hot, freshly cooked food topped up ready for customers to enjoy when they are ready to eat, but instead were only topped up when asked and even had to go back and wait at the table 5-10 minutes each time.
It’s understandable if the place was packed and very busy which wasn’t the case as we were the only table there.
What was even more disappointing was that after trying the starter we had to ask for plain rice which was empty as it only had what looked like dry crispy left over bits of rice which has been sitting in the tray for hours and was told if we could wait as it seemed like it was being cooked while we waited. Then we decided to move onto dessert as we lost our appetite due to waiting which was even more disappointing because they only had a selection of three Asian sweet dessert that didn’t look fresh and not many people would eat specially not the kids but they didn’t even have any fruit or ice cream alternatives even for kids.
In all honesty it’s not a place I would recommend or revisit as it seemed like a waste of hard earned money down the drain because we were charged over £105 and even billed for a 2 year old on a feeding tube who wasn’t...
Read moreWith the name buffet you associate big places but this place is not. There are limited option, i would say approximately 20 station. Tried all the main and I thought they all were pretty good. Been to others where they have 10 curry station and i only like 1 or 2 but here they all are decent. Within the starters i wish there were more options and the desert run out quickly so they will need to plan their stocking better.
I enjoyed the chicken wings and chicken pakora for starter. I wish they made their sheek kebab fresh as the ones served were not very good and if my predictions are correct then they are packeted ones that gets microwaved. The batter on fish pakora was not fully cooked and were soggy.
For the mains my favorite was dum biryani, saag chicken and the garlic naan. There were only 1 meat curry option with various chicken ones. I felt anything that had chicken tikka such as the noodles and biryani were a bit hard so couldnt enjoy as much.
The customer service were above excellent. I understand they are new and probably learning about themselves. Worth giving thisn place a try as they are value for money plus they are very accommodating on anything else that you may require.
Dont forget to try their chai. Better than...
